Chapter 1 - introduction (Alexander's death)

"You can't do this Alexander! I need you and the kids also need you. Don't be stupid Alexander! Sigh. I have told you so many times to leave the army and come back to us but you refused. Look at yourself now, what are you even talking about?..." A dejected voice could be heard on the other end of Alexander's phone. Alexander could not help but feel the pain deep inside in his heart but there was nothing that he could do to rectify the situation. He had to do this and he was not going to allow any other person to do it. As he glanced at the room once again, he could only see young teenagers and men who had not married or they were still deep in a young marriage. Alexander could not help but be sad about it. He would not allow these young men to do the job when he as an old man who had been a father for a long time, stood there stupidly, No, he had to do it.

"Miriam, listen carefully, this world is nothing without denizens. I would have liked us to be together for a long time but unfortunately, it seemed like the heavens didn't plan that to happen. Live well with our kids, show them love and how to stand up and care for others. Also, tell them that their dad was a good person and he liked them very much. Even if I may die in the mission, I will stiy be with you guys always, I will not leave you guys. I hope you understand what I am talking about. Don't tell the kids that I am gone, wait for them to grow up enough mentally and then you can tell them the truth later..."

"Alexander, what are you talking about? Is this what you have already decided? You are so selfish Alexander. Stupid, so stupid..." Alexander sighed inwardly as he heard the sadness deep in his wife's voice. He even wished that his wife was right here so that he could embrace her even if it would have been the last time, but the military didn't allow any relationship while they were at work. He could only shook his head in sadness but he didn't allow that sadness to show on his face and he maintained a serious face.

"Captain Alex, I am young and I also have a serious illness. Allow me to do this. I am the most capable in this base..." A handsome youth tried to tell Alexander out of it. He wanted to take the task because he thought that he only had a few years to stay on this world so, what if he could use his life to save millions? It would be worth it, right? The handsome youth had heard clearly the sad voice of Alexander's wife because Alexander's call was sensitive and at a very important time like this, his call was needed to be heard by all. So, his call was heard in the entire military base.

"You can't do it Shosho. Dr Ryan had already said that your sickness is treatable as long as they got that immortal stone from planet Roka. Not to mention that unlike me, your wife is just six months pregnant, don't torture your wife with your disappearance. You have more years in front of you. Cradle with your wife for some more years and then when you grow old like me, it would be time for you to take this task" Alexander advised the handsome youth. He would not allow anyone to take this task. It have to be him. He was already prepared to do this even if he was to leave behind his wife. As a captain, he had already planned for his family by accumulating wealth over the years. He had several businesses here and there and he was very sure that those ones were going to help his family when he was gone.

Alexander poured some wine into his glass as he awaited the military siren that said that all the protocols were ready so that he could go and finish off the enemy that had "fu*ked" them for a long time.

"You have been great to us captain and we will miss your presence in the team so much. Do you remember the time when you told me to send a love message to my wife at that time? It really helped because my silence almost made my wife to leave me silently, but that message made her to think otherwise. This is just one of the things that you have helped us young soldiers with. I will forever remember your name." A skinny soldier could not help but shade tears as he toasted his wine glass with Alexander's.

"That is true. We have learned so much from captain Alex, talk about selflessness, passionate and compassion. Nearly all of us were wicked criminals before we were forced into the army but when we met you Alex, we knew what being human meant, we are very thankful for showing us the right way. To tell you the truth, we were lost completely, but thankfully, the heavens made us to meet you. We will continue with your campaign Alex." Another man chimed in as he toasted his wine glass with all of them. It was totally heartbreaking but the man who was at the center of attention - Alexander, was indifferent. He had a calm mind and a serious face as if everything was ok.

Alexander gulped his wine and said, "I have not died yet so don't mourn for my death when I am still alive and kicking..."

"Beep, Beep, Beep. Spacecraft 67 is ready, Captain Alexander could now proceed to Hangar A3." A womanly voice reverberated in the entire military base making Alexander to put his glass down and proceed to the needed place.

His friends and also comrades had urged him to allow them to take this task on his place but Alexander was adamant about doing it himself rather than allowing another person to do it. They could only sigh as they thought of a life without Alexander who brought them together.

In the meantime, Alexander walked through a series of corridors before he found himself in Hangar A3. The space ship which was carrying the most dangerous explosive was waiting.

Alexander saluted the military generals who were standing beside the ship before he went inside the spacecraft.

The spacecraft that Alexander went in was a star like structure with sharp spikes around it. It would look like an alien creature than a spaceship from afar, but this small spacecraft had a very dangerous explosive stored in it. One should not look down on it.

Apparently, the humans had been to war with the Butterfly race for a long time but this day, it was different because the humans had been cornered by the Butterflies. The Butterflies were going all out and they were determined to wipe out the entire human race from existance.

As a matter of fact, the Butterflies had a high birthrate compared to that of humans and when they decide to go all out against the humans, they came out in waves. The good thing was that the Butterflies didn't have spacecrafts but they only had warframes which were giving the humans a hard time to slew them all. The Butterflies were almost breaching the defense of the humans.

The humans had no any other choice than to sent several deadly explosives to the planet of the butterflies.

Actually, even though the butterflies didn't have a spaceship, through the use of their witches, they had made a portal that connected their world to planet Earth. Through this portal, they were able to access planet Earth. Humans have tried so much to seal the portal but the thing was tricky as it was made by the universal rules, so breaking it down was not an option that could be conceivable. They could only watch as this alien race invaded their planet.

Alexander and his four other fellows entered into their spaceship and took off from the military base. And just like that, they left the Earth's atmosphere and flew into space. Yes, they were going to hit the butterflies in their home ground.

A person like captain Alex had gone to space several times so, he was not afraid. He was only sad for leaving his family because he was sure he would not come back the moment the explosive in his ship was activated.

He held up the pendant that was on his chest that showed the picture of his wife holding their last born daughter. In the picture, his wife was ecstatic just like his daughter. Alexander was very sure that he would miss his family so much.

One should know that the advanced tech in the military had made the military not to be a suicide occupation. What the military needed was simply a few dummies which were able to pilot warframes and spacecrafts to fight the battle with the butterflies in humans' stead but in this case this time round, those dummies had failed to work because the butterflies were too adept at manipulating those dummies out of the control of the humans. Those butterflies then used the warframes and spaceships that the humans had sent to them to wreck havock on their planet Earth.

The military generals on the humans side then decided to use real humans to pilot these spaceships so that they could bomb the entire planet of the butterflies to finish this war. One of the volunteers to pilot the spaceships to the butterflies lair was Alexander.

---

Alexander picked a stick from the cigarette pack and lit one as he drove the spaceship towards the lair of the butterflies. Since he was a captain and one who had a higher rank among the volunteers, Alexander became the leader of them all as they journey towards the Butterfly planet.

The military spacecrafts were swift and silent which made them to enter into the butterfly planet unhindered.

Just like usual, they found too many Butterflies flying around in that they could not even count them. Their large population seemed to be what was forcing the Butterflies to invade other neighbouring planets and Planet Earth just seemed to be the most nearby to theirs.

The butterflies were barbaric and savage creatures and the moment they saw the human spaceships, they flew towards them without caring for their lives. Alarms were also rung in the entire planet to signify the coming of the humans.

However, Alexander and his team were not daunted on the slightest. They moved like a team towards the core of the butterfly Planet.

"Comrades! It is now time to unleash hell on this planet!" Captain Alex said with a smile.

"Roger!" His comrades who were controlling the other ships answered in unison.

With a grin on his face, Alexander drove his spacecrafts towards the epicenter of the planet madly while on the other hand, his comrades were following up.

The butterflies which had already entered into their warframes were also not left out. They followed the spaceship very fast which to Alexander, it was as if they were teleporting.

"They are almost catching up, we need to increase the speed to optimum!" Alexander ordered.

The warframes that were following them were countless. They leapt from place to place while firing blasts at them but because their ships had been modified to the utmost tech, they were not even scratched on the slightest making the butterflies even more maddened.

"I can see the core of the butterfly Planet from where I am. It is time to release the explosives..." Before even Alexander could continue ordering, he saw two of his comrades turning against them and because he was caught off guard, he was blasted to pieces before he even got a chance to release the explosives on the epicenter of the butterfly planet.

One should know that the explosives would not explode if they had not been released. That was to make sure that they do not explode on the way even before they reached on their destination. The comrades of Alexander also knew the flaw of their spaceships and that was what made it easier for them to blast each other.

Before Alexander was blasted, he clearly saw the smile on the faces of his two comrades before they morphed into butterflies. Alexander was too shocked to take any action and thus, he was easily taken out.

The humans only sent five spaceships and as for the other two human comrades who were behind Alexander, Alexander didn't saw what happened to them.

It was difficult for the butterflies to infiltrate into the humans domain unless his comrades who turned against them were possessed by the witches of the butterflies, that would make sence.

Just like that, Alexander died.
