It's July and I am still waiting for McGonagall's visit. Sitting on my bed, I am meditating and trying to make sure my occlumency is good enough to withstand any professor or professionals. You can never say when something might happen.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. The orphanage's warden came in.
"Emerald a professor from a boarding school is here to see you."
"School?",I asked in a surprised voice despite knowing that it was probably Hogwarts.
"Yeah and come on fast, we don't want to keep them waiting. I will be near the reception if you need me. There is someone who wants to adopt and the professor said that she would explain everything to you herself. I am sorry I can't be there, but don't worry she is very kind and patient.", she said with an apologetic smile. I just nodded with a small smile as she left just like that in a hurry. It was probably McGonagall's doing to keep the warden away so that she can talk to me.
I took a deep breath and walked to the warden's room.
As I looked through my
the opened door I tightened my occlumency shields and saw that I was right to have expected Professor McGonagall. She looked exactly liked the actor in the Harry Potter films.
"Good morning ma'am!", I said as I bowed to the Professor. It wouldn't hurt to be respectful.
"Good morning Emerald. I am Minerva McGonagall and I am from Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry."
"Witchcraft and Wizerdry?"(Got to put up a show right)
"Well, my dear, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a place of magic and wonder, hidden away from the eyes of Muggles. It's a grand castle located in Scotland, where young witches and wizards come to learn and develop their magical abilities. We have four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, each with its own unique qualities. You'd find enchanting subjects like Potions, Transfiguration, and Defense Against the Dark Arts on your schedule. And, of course, there's Quidditch, our magical sport. But always remember, Hogwarts is not just about learning spells; it's about friendship, bravery, and discovering the magic within yourself. Welcome to our world, child.
"What's Muggles?"
"Muggles are people who aren't born with magical abilities like you and I. They live in the non-magical world and do things in a very ordinary way. They can't fly on broomsticks, cast spells, or brew potions. To them, our magical world is a secret, and they don't even know it exists. But that doesn't mean they're any less special. Muggles have their own talents and ways of making the world a better place. So, it's important to respect and coexist peacefully with them, even if they can't do magic like we can." she explained patiently.
"You are telling me you can do magic?" i asked and she nodded with a smile.
"With all due respect, can you prove it?"
The professor didn't say anything as she took out her wand from her sleeve.
She pointed it at a pencil as she waved it and turned it into a small butterfly.
""Woah! Can I do that too?" I asked in awe .
"Yes! Hogwarts would teach you all the magic. Now, since you don't have any money of your own Hogwarts would lend you some and you can pay back after you graduate and find a job. Every year I will help you shop and pay for the necessities and if you need extra money you can ask and I would give it to you as long as it is within limits and is used for something acceptable. I am your guardian in the magical world. I have told the warden that you are going to a prestigious boarding school for your studies through a scholarship and that it's free. You would return here every summer for the two months vacation. Any doubts so far?".
"No professor.".
"Good. Now let's go get your school books, uniforms and other things."
McGonagall and I walked to the reception where she explained to the warden about how I have been accepted to go and how I'll be back after getting some things needed for the school. She somehow convinced the warden that she needn't come, probably by confundes as I saw her clutching her wand toward the warden. Soon me and McGonagall were walking and we moved out of the orphanage.
Once we were out of the view of people McGonagall extended her hand as she told me to hold onto it tightly.
"We are going to apparate. It's like teleportation. You would feel as if you are sucked into a tube and then probably feel nauseous. But it will be fine okay".
I just nodded as she stood straight.
And then yes it felt like I was sucked through a long tube, but it was quick so I couldn't exactly understand the sensation properly. As I felt it stop I had my eyes closed and had to stop my self from being dizzy and vomiting. But as it wasn't like that for that long. And got over it quite quickly.
"You okay?" Profesor asked as I straightened myself. I noticed we were in front of a shabby shop
I simply nodded.
"This is an entrance to diagon alley and it is where you would get all your school necessities. Follow me."
As she went into the shop I saw a lot of people drinking. No one said anything, probably because they knew it was school buisness. We went to the back where there was a brick wall. The professor brought out her wand as she drew the pattern. I looked intently memorising it as the bricks moved giving way to a beautiful view of the diagon alley.
