'How did it even come to this...'
He thought to himself as he watched groups of kids watching him and his classmate playing Yu-Gi-Oh in class.
More specifically, playing Yu-Gi-Oh during class.
"Good first turn, Tizu-kun. Now, it's your turn, Ken-kun."
The teacher urged him to start his turn. Staring at his draw hand, he was resisting to facepalm, thinking to himself how did he even arrive in this situation when he focused up.
This game would determine his eligibility to enter the under-15 tournament in their city, Domino City, which boasted a prize pool of 15,000 Yen ($1000) sponsored by the Kaiba Corp to find talent amongst young people.
Yes, he was in Yu-Gi-Oh. Somehow.
He woke up as a 7-year-old all of a sudden, after grinding to reach Platinum 4 before the season ended for Master Duel with his trusty Exosister deck, alongside some other side decks that he used (When he was triggered, he doesn't talk about that).
Imagine his surprise when he was suddenly transported into this world the day Dark Side of Dimensions occurred. It was one hell of a spectacle.

"I activate the trap, Dimension Sphinx! Since your monster has twice or more attack than mine, the difference is deal to you as damage!"
The tone and voice of Yugi fucking Muto made him shudder with goosebumps all over his body.
A hologram of a golden sphinx arose from the ground, technically the air since they were suspended by whatever the fuck Kaiba was cooking, the red jewel on the sphinx's chest transferred to Gaia as it crossed its lances in an 'X'.
Lightning sparked from the lances before Gaia, and its dragon bursts a beam towards Diva, taking 1500 LP as a holographic explosion occurred from Diva's side. He could even see the LP drop from a holographic screen in front of him that shows their fight but in card form. Sick.
[Diva's LP: 7900 → 4600]
"Ugh, so what? My attack still ends you — !"
"Not when I play my second trap, Dimension Guardian! It keeps Gaia from being destroyed!"
Another Egyptian being appeared, something that looked like a Valkyrie in Egyptian times, as a blinding light shone from its helmet, forming a barrier to block Diva's Indiora.
... Couldn't he have used Dimension Guardian earlier? From the wording that the screen was giving him, the card targets 1 face-up Attack Position monster, and it cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects.
Couldn't he have used this much earlier? He was really confused. Eh, he was just a Plat Master Duel player, he didn't know squash about real dueling.
"... Are you through?"
He could hear Diva's annoyed tone, which made his snort as Yugi denied it.
"Not yet! Cause now I play my third trap, Dimension Mirage! Since you failed to destroy my monster, your monster is forced to attack again!"
...
"Holy shit."
He just forced Diva into attacking, meaning Sphinx will do 1500 damage to his LP over and over again with Mirage looping the attack until his LP goes to 0, as long as Yugi banishes every turn.
A fucking infinite loop combo.
Damn, that was so cool.

Ah, the memories, it had been over 5 years since that happened.
"Ken-kun, your move?"
The teacher asked as he snapped back to reality.
Oops.
"Sorry. Draw for turn."
He drew a card and stared at his now 6 card hand.
Pot of Greed.
Mystical Elf.
Mirror Wall.
Mystical Space Typhoon.
Assault Dog.
Called By the Grave.
Christ, his deck was bad.
To be fair, this era's decks are all horrible. Most of them are beat sticks that you can get for cheap, so he filled his deck with 15 beat sticks ranging from level 4 to 6, 15 spells, and 10 traps.
Looking at Tizu's field, it was quite barren. Just a Lesser Dragon (1200/1000) in Attack Position with no back row, even when he had 5 cards in his hand.
... Man, Battle City draw one on Turn 1 is crazy now that he thinks about it. At least Fusions now can attack when summoned.
"I start by activating Pot of Greed."
Drawing two cards from his deck after placing it to the GY, he looked at the new hand.
Giant Soldier of Stone and Graceful Charity. OK, he could work with this.
"I summon Assault Dog in Attack Position."
Since they were playing on a normal duel mat, no holograms, unfortunately.
"Battle, I attack your Lesser Dragon."
"Huh? But your monster's attack is the same though..."
The kid asked with confusion as he and Ken placed their defeated monsters in the GY.
"Main phase 2, I activate Assault Dog's effect. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY, I can Special Summon any number of Assault Dogs from my deck."
"... GY?"
He tilts his head in confusion.
"The graveyard."
Teacher gave him his answer with an impressed look on her face, to which he gasps in shock.
"So that's why you attacked with it!"
Murmurs started to sound around him, which makes him a little bit weirded out at the attention, but that thousand dollars sounded really juicy for him to care.
Searching his deck, he takes two Assault Dogs out before reshuffling the deck. Placing them both in defense position, he sets a card face down before giving Tizu the turn.
"A very good move, Ken-kun!"
"Um... I draw!"
He drew his card before taking his time to stare at each one. After a minute of waiting, which scared him since he thought that Tizu had something cooking, he started his turn.
"I summon Feral Imp (1300/1400) in Attack Position!
Battle! I attack your Assault Wolf (1200/800) with my Feral Imp (1300/1400)!"
"... I activate my trap, Mirror Wall in response. Your attacking monster loses half its attack."
[Feral Imp's ATK: 1300 → 650]
He flipped his face down card as the attack still went through, causing the Feral Imp to lose the fight and Tizu takes damage.
[Tizu's LP: 4000 → 3450]
"Aw... OK, I end my turn then."
He said with sadness in his tone as he passed the turn to him.
"Nice try, Tizu-kun. You can do it! Next turn you'll do well!"
... Yeah, about that...
"Draw."
Black Pendant.
"Standby Phase, I take 2000 LP from Mirror Wall."
[Ken's LP: 4000 → 2000]
"Main phase 1, I will activate Graceful Charity. I draw 3 and discard 2."
Drawing three cards, he looked at his hand.
Mystical Elf.
Mystical Space Typhoon.
Giant Soldier of Stone.
Called By the Grave.
Black Pendant.
Tremendous Fire.
Tyhone #2.
"I will discard two cards before summoning Tyhone #2 in Attack Position."
Discarding Mystical Elf and Giant Solder of Stone, he summoned Tyhone #2.
"I then activate Black Pendant and equip it to Tyhone #2."
Once I did the mental calculations, I started the Battle Phase.
"Battle, I attack Feral Imp (650/1400) with my second Assault Dog (1200/800)."
[Tizu's LP: 3450 → 2900]
"Then, Tyhone #2 with Black Pendant (1700+500 = 2200/1000) equipped attacks directly."
[Tizu's LP: 2900 → 700]
"Main phase 2, I use Tremendous Fire to deal 1000 LP to you, and 500 to me."
[Ken's LP: 2000 → 1500]
[Tizu's LP: 700 → 0]
Watching the kid's face drop to utter defeat was the clear indicator that it was game.
That was so "fun".

Signing up for the tournament, school eventually ended, prompting him to immediately leave school alone.
He lived alone since he was an orphan with deadbeat parents who drink and go out all day.
At least they give him an allowance every week, a good 7,000 Yen a week ($50) which adds up quite a bit for each week he saves up.
Flipping through his deck list, he just sighs as he scratches his head. How to get better cards for the tournament... Cards in this universe are expensive as fuck somehow, with beat sticks of 3000 ATK costing over 50,000 dollars a piece, and they were pretty average too.
But since his deadbeat parents didn't give me any online device at all, he couldn't go online to buy cards that he needed.
And this timeline specifically was fusion and ritual only, meaning no Synchro, Pendulum, Xyz, and Link summoning, which made him cry a little because most of his decks in Master Duel were Xyz and Links.
And his local card shops only had beat sticks that were basically useless. The only cards that he got were Fairy Tail — Snow and Waboku.
People for some reason think that Graceful Charity or Foolish Burial was shit. Cards that put cards into the GY or discarding cards were looked down. Brother, they were overpowered with the right deck!
Maybe he could ask his teacher to borrow a computer for ordering cards? That would work...
Opening the door to his room, he was about to drop his bag on the floor when he noticed something on his table.
His eyes narrowed, he walked closer to the table before picking up a white box. He tilts it to find something on it, to find nothing. Not even a note or some sorts.
He clearly remembered that his table was empty earlier before he left for school.
With suspicion, he thought about it before looking around his room to make sure nothing was missing. After checking, he was even more confused.
"Nothing is missing at all, but why..."
Why would someone come to his locked home (He always locked his door) and not take anything, instead leaving something that was the shape of a briefcase on his table.
Thinking about it, he decides to tear it open.
RIP!
"What the fuck..."
In the package were two boxes.
The white box with blue edges, the words "DUEL DISK" printed sleekly on the size.
And underneath it was the second box containing a set of card sleeves and a black duel box filled with cards.
Opening the duel box, his eyes widened. Flipping through the cards, he sits on his chair as he mutters a "What...?".
It was a full deck. A Witchcrafter Deck to be exact with some universal cards, something that he'd never even heard of in this universe. Forbidden Droplet, Maxc "C", Ash Blossom? He thought they were non-existent.
Is this even tournament legal? Were these cards even made prior to him getting these?
Who the fuck gave him these?
...
But damn, these would be useful in the tournament that's happening in two weeks time. Especially the Duel Disk.
