The citizens of Daria grumbled and complained about the statue, as did the other nations. The lack of money in the treasury made it difficult to pay our soldiers' wages for the next few years, which greatly lowered morale. It was an enormous waste of money and a symbol of another mad king. It was unfortunate that such a thing bore my resemblance.

The defense of Daria was split into two areas, internal and external. City guards were trained to defend against bandits and wild creatures, while the army was trained to defend against other nations and magical invasions. I consulted with the generals, captains, and other officers, sharing my vast knowledge of military strategy.

I remember my 80th birthday well; I was very introspective. Prince Kyle was 14 and old enough to begin tutelage under the royal court wizard. I didn't intend to continue serving a second monarch, so I knew it was nearly time for me to retire.
Unfortunately, my dreams of bringing war to the land and dominating the other nations hadn't been achieved. The agricultural system was inadequate, and food surpluses were low. Without the food needed to support an epic-sized army, my hopes were dashed.
I was eager to resign from my role as court wizard. King Eric, Queen Yasmine, and Prince Kyle were all sad to see me go, and I would miss them too. Eric had learned to deal with his strange thoughts. I think that the kingdom would do well until Kyle came into power. Durgan, the Archmage, selected an established wizard named Aram to replace me.
I packed up my personal belongings—leaving the tower for the new royal wizard—and left Tornassa. That was the end of my official wizarding career.
