As a barbarian, I had no trouble walking past all of the warriors and up to the Barbarian King himself. Once I was there, I let the Illusion fall away. The warriors gasped at my magic, but the king hardly flinched.

"Why have you come?" the Barbarian King demanded.
"I am Randal Caldwell, royal wizard to King Eric," I told him. "You must stop these senseless raids immediately."
Instead of listening to me, he laughed. Soon, all of the barbarians around him were laughing as well.
The warriors around him roared in laughter, to see an older person like myself challenging the Barbarian King to a one-on-one fight with no magic.
The laughter ended when they saw my skills. I fought him with everything I had, and he died at my hands, causing a hush to fall over the barbarians. As per their custom, I was granted a boon. I commanded them to leave Daria alone and pay restitution for the damage they had caused. They agreed, and I returned to Tornassa. The barbarian raids were no more.

As I waited for the barbarians to promise an end to their raids, I saw a flash of white in the trees. I paused several times, trying to figure out what it was. Eventually, a snowy white owl drifted down from the branches and landed before me. It was beautiful, and I could feel the potential connection. I wondered what would have happened if I hadn't already bonded with Kaa, my snake.
