Archmage Lacius was furious, as was the rest of the guild. I forced them to work for the kingdom under threat of losing their precious books. Magic made everything easier, from lifting stones during building projects to finding mineral deposits when mining. It saved us a lot of money.

The defense of Daria was split into two areas, internal and external. King Eric tried very hard to be a good king, but King Gareth's reign tainted everything he did. There were many people who did not want him on the throne. They were afraid that he would bear the same madness that had corrupted his father. With the kingdom in tatters, the nations surrounding Daria began to get nervous. I knew that I would have to do something to keep Daria safe until things settled down. Unfortunately, King Gareth had soured the reputation of the kingdom.
