"We're hunters from out of town," Ed says. "We're looking for a business partnership."
"That's really the story you want to go with?"
"Can't change it now. Already emailed them."
Your head snaps around. "You did what?"
"Hey! Look at the road!"
You turn back to stare out the windscreen. The street ahead of you is straight, empty, and brilliantly lit in the late morning sun. You're not in any danger. "We just left," you say. "How have you already emailed them?"
"Eh... I'm a zoomer?" Ed answers. "Sending an email isn't exactly hard."
You fight the urge to roll your eyes. "Fine. Real question. Why? You know it's going to look weird to send an email ten minutes before we arrive, right?"
"Well... it wasn't ten minutes ago."
You glance back at him. "We only decided to do this ten minutes ago. When did you email them?"
Ed's chewing his bottom lip, eyes down, hands toying with his phone. "Don't tell Vicky."
You peer at him suspiciously. "Don't tell Vicky what?"
