Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Failure (2)

Staring at the alchemy table Ethan first started to heat the large pot with his fire magic as he overlooked his ingredients one last time.

"tier 8 demon core...grounded dust of a tier 6 unicorn horn,a tier 7 dragon's eye and finally 500ml the water from the tree of Yggdrasil...Alright everything is here"Ethan said as he looked over the pot checking the temperature of it with his arcane eyes making sure it stayed at 500°C.

The moment the temperature stabilized Ethan slowly poured the water of Yggdrasil,as he felt the mana in the room coalescing into the water as the energy peaked he added dragon eye as the heat in the room suddenly spiked.

"Shit the manual said to wait until the eye dissolved in the water but at this rate the potion is going to explode"He said as he decided to make a drastic decision .

Adding the unicorn dust into the pot the heat in the room started to cool, but instead of Ethan being relieved he rather got anxious as he gazed at the pot looking at the murky water that still contained half the dragon eye.

Not wasting time Ethan started to inject all his mana into the pot trying to bring the heat to an equilibrium.Feeling the sweat forming on his scalp Ethan could feel how his mana reserves were being depleted and knew this situation couldn't go on for long.Making the split decision he threw in the final ingredient the tier 8 demon heart.

As soon as the heart touched the water the room suddenly chilled as Ethan started to hear things crawling behind him.

Knowing this was nothing more than an illusion caster by the remaining spirit of the demon he didn't look back knowing just one slip of conscentration could cause him he channeled everything he had as his pale blue eyes flickered gold for a second as a pale gold light flowed from the mysterious watch he was wearing into him.

Feeling this extra strength he had gotten from God knows where ,he channeled it all into the pot as he lost the strength in his legs.

Falling flat on his back his eyes gazed at the pot as they shook in trepidation as he gazed at the pot that was shaking and bubbling over.

This continued on for over a minute as to Ethan it felt like a decade with him not even breathing in fear of his musty breath ruining the potion before it finally went still.

[Title acquired:Grandmaster Alchemist]

"Haaaaaaa"Breathing a sigh of relief Ethan willed his dead body to walk over to the pot not even bothering to look at the benefits of his new title as he wanted to check out his new potion.

Looking at the potion Ethan smirked as he reached for the pot.Grabbing a smaller beaker he slowly poured the contents into the beaker making sure not to spill even a drop of the potion.

"I sure hope this works"Ethan said as he slowly limped his way to the bean bag in the corner of the room as he grabbed the mysterious book and the beaker filled with the potion.

(At a magnificent castle)

"Sire we have caught traces of the escapee at the Thunderberg mountain"A wise looking Asian man said as he looked to his left side looking at the priest in black robes who sat upon a throne.

"Hmmm...send the dogs after him"The priest said as he looked at the Asian man with a calculating look in his greyed pupiled eyes.

"Sire! Are you sure about this, after this they will not owe you anymore favours and you will be on your own"The Asian made screamt in a worried tone.

"Fret not Lee Young, after this their use will be over"The priest said as his calculating look deepend as the smirk on his face grew in length almost looking twisted.

"As....as you wish sire" Lee Young said as he walked away as worried look plastered on his face as he thought,'The lord has changed...ever since 'They' arrived...I pray for your safety Ethan'.
