Chereads / Things have changed / Chapter 2 - 2

Chapter 2 - 2

- Did you feel it? - King asked, hovering on the pillow.

- Yes," Diana replied.

- What is it? - Bun asked.

- I don't know, but I'm more interested in the earthquake the day before yesterday than this sudden power surge," Merlin said.

- Cap? - said Ban, seeing Meliodas staring thoughtfully into his mug of ale. - Cap! - Ban called out louder.

- What?" asked Meliodas.

- You all right, Grue? - Hork asked.

- Yeah, everything's fine. I was thinking," Meliodas replied.

- I'm going to go cook; we don't even have anything to eat," said Ban, going behind the counter and putting on his apron. The Seven Deadly Sins were having a great time. Everyone was laughing and drinking ale. They'll be asleep by nightfall.

- Mm. My head. It's ringing in my ears," Ella said when she woke up. She was lying face down in the grass, so she put her hand on the back of her head and started to get up. - Where am I? Gelda! - called out to her friend Ella, coming to her senses. She was lying beside her, wearing different clothes, and her hair had turned ashy. Gelda was starting to come around too.

- Damn, my head is so cracking," she said, grabbing her head. Ella exhaled.

- Gelda, are you okay? - Ella asked, walking over to her.

- 'Depends on what and how. 'My head is cracking,' said Gelda, standing up from the ground.

- So do I," said Ella. - 'Gelda, look, you're going to be a little shocked, but look at yourself and your hair.

- And look at you. What's wrong with your eyes?! Stop with the eyes. So it's true. You are a goddess!

- Yeah, but you've got fangs sticking out of your mouth. "There's a lake, look," Ella said, and Gelda ran towards it.

- What's wrong with my hair?! Is it ashy?! And why are my eyes light blue when they were green?! - said Gelda, shouting to almost the whole forest.

- 'Gelda, you know, it looks even better on you than it did before,' Ellaira said, walking over to her with a smile.

- Well, yes, I agree, it suits me. But it will take me a long time to get used to it.

- Okay, we'll get used to it. But first, we need to understand where we are," Ella said, looking around.

- Yeah, I agree. Where did we end up? - Gelda asked. People came out from behind the bushes. They saw the girls. - Let's ask them.

- Hello, can you tell us where we are now? - Ella said.

- What are two such lovely ladies doing here? - asked a guy about twenty-five years old.

- We were passing by here and got lost. Can you tell us where we are? - Ella asked again.

- It's a forest near Camelot.

- Camelot?! - said the girls in surprise.

- Yes, were you heading somewhere else? - the older man asked.

- No. We were just surprised that we were near here because we thought we were going somewhere else," Ella lied.

- You're going the right way. But if you want to know, you have to go straight in that direction all the time, and you'll find yourself right in the town, - said the older man.

- Thank you, - thanked the girls and went toward the older man's point.

- Ella, Camelot! Camelot, KARL?! m- said Gelda.

- I'm shocked.

- So we're in the SSG world?!

- It appears so, said Ellaira.

- A dream come true?! - said the girls.

- So let's think about it. Since I'm a goddess, I should have wings, which you create with dark matter. Hmm? - Ella said.

- As it said, a demon's dark matter takes on whatever appearance the demon itself desires. Right? I'm a vampire, though, and surely demons and vampires have dark matter. Okay, let's check it out," Gelda said.

- Yeah, but goddesses seem to have a normal summoning," Ella said.

- We should try it," she said, imagining wings in her head. - Did it work? - said Gelda.

- Yes, open your eyes and look, - said Ella and Gelda turned her head, and behind her back were two big wings made of dark matter. Ella decided to try it, too. Well, she wasn't going to walk. Two pairs of wings appeared behind her back. They were bigger, the feathers were soft and slightly fluffy, and the colour of the wings was like the first snow that fell, just as pure, delicate and innocent.

- Wow! How beautiful," Gelda said when she saw Ella's wings.

- Did you get it? - she said.

- Yes, it did! Can I touch it? - Gelda asked, and Ella nodded. - Oh, my God, they're so soft. It's just, Ahhhh! It's better than a teddy bear. Can I wrap myself in your wings? - she asked, but then she saw Ella blushing. - Al, what's wrong?

- Oh, nothing. Wings are very sensitive.

- I'm sorry. I won't do it again," said Gelda, realising what she was implying. - Let's fly, shall we?

- Yes, let's try," Ella said and flapped her wings and took off into the sky, with Gelda following her.

- Whoa," said Gelda, she wasn't very good at it, and she was going down, then up again, then tumbling sideways.

- Gelda, calm down. Listen to me. Relax, let yourself go and fly. Imagine it's like you're weightless and flying," Ella said, holding her hand.

- Ha-ha. It's working! It's working! - said Gelda, and Ella let her go. - Whoo! - she said, doing a barrel roll backwards and flying forwards, and she could see the castle and the wall ahead. It was Camelot. The girls landed near the walls of Camelot, and their wings disappeared. Their eyes became normal, and Gelda's markings were still gone, making it easier.

- Wow, they're tall," Ella said excitedly.

- Tall from the ground, not from the air," Gelda said with a chuckle.

- 'Right, ha ha,' said Ellaira.

- Let's go. I want to see something our world would never see,' said Gelda in anticipation.

- Heh, I agree,' said Ella, and they walked into town.

- Cool. Yeah, this is something we'd never see," said Gelda, looking at the passers-by wearing clothes that in their world you'd only see in the movies or in the theatre, and that wasn't it.

- Yeah, that's what you only see in movies and theatre.

- Yes, and even in a museum," said Gelda.

- Ha-ha! - The girls laughed and went on ahead. They walked around the city and met many holy czars and ordinary citizens. It was quieter here than in their city of New York. Endless traffic jams, the noise of cars, thousands of people running around like ants. All this can sometimes drive you crazy, and you want peace and quiet. There were many people here too, but there were no noisy cars. Everything was calm, but sometimes this calmness turned into the noise of the competitions in which our friends participated. In these competitions, they earned money and bought some food. They were having quite a day. Ellaira had even ordered herself a coffee to escape the stress of the ash-grey demon's attack. Ella had been thinking about it for ten minutes without noticing she'd been staring at the mug.

- 'Al, what are you doing?

- Huh? What?" said Ella, coming to her senses.

- You've been staring into the coffee mug for ten minutes. Is something wrong? - Gelda asked worriedly.

- 'No, nothing's wrong, I'm just thinking,' Ellaira replied calmly.

- All right," said Gelda, "By the way, I would add a white cloak to your image, held on your left shoulder. It would look harmonious.

- Yes, I agree, some things are missing in my image, - agreed Ella, looking at herself, - but yours has some flaws too; I would add half of the skirt, which would be held on a belt of about burgundy colour.

- Yes, you're right. I was thinking about it too. Let's go, win the money and buy the stuff we need, - said Gelda, standing up from the table, already grabbed her friend to drag her towards the festival.

- Wait, I haven't finished my coffee! - Ella said, emptying her mug in one gulp, and they ran towards the show's start.
