The four kids leave the Dark Cave onto route 31.
Gol: I really hate how bright the sun is...
Roco: What's with you and lights?
Gol: I'm a bat, I'm not used to being outside my cave in the morning.
Bay: Makes sense, it's the exact opposite for me. As I grass type I thrive in the sun.
They enter Violet City and see the sign to the gym.
Quil: Oh I didn't know that Violet City had a gym. We should stop by for our first badge.
Gol: You guys are participating in the gym challenge? I've thought of it but never planned on going through with it.
Roco: Yeah come on let's go. It'll be fun.
Bay: We just left for our journey, you think we're ready for a gym? We've done no training or preparation for one.
Quil: We should be fine. The gym sign says it's beginner friendly.
Gol: Let's check the city first for any clues to my friend. That is the reason I agreed to come along with you guys.
Quil: Yeah okay, that makes sense.
They talk with people in the city and find nothing, except for Quil when he speaks to an old man.
Old Man: I saw a boy like that just went into the Sprout Tower over there.
He points toward the large pagoda pass the lake behind the gym.
Old Man: It's the home of Violet City's sages and monks who wish to learn to live with Pokémon. Most trainers stop by the tower to train with the monks before challenging the gym.
Quil: Really? Thank you sir.
They regroup and Quil informs them of tower.
Bay: That's actually really perfect for us. We can get some training for the gym and find the thief.
Gol: Yeah, killing two birds with one stone.
Roco: What are we waiting for then? We better get over there to catch him before he leaves.
They run over to the Sprout Tower and start climbing the levels. They battle the monks as the ascend the floors, gaining experience along the way. The reach the final level and see an exhausted monk on the floor and Silver in front of him.
Monk: I must say young man, you really are strong for being so young.
Silver: Just tell me what I want to know.
Monk: Alright, a deal is a deal. I'll tell you all about-
Quil: There you are thief!
