Chapter 36 - Episode 35: Sleeping

Back on route 12, the group encounter the same roadblock that sent them on this hunt for the Poke Flute. The massive Snorlax.

Otto: Give it to me, I still remember how to play it.

She plays an angelic tune which wakes up the Pokemon.

Wart: Sorry to wake you, but could you please move so we can get thro-

The Snorlax slaps Wart into the water. Enraged at the sudden disturbance of it's sleep.

Una: I guess we can't just ask it to move.

Otto: Usually a Snorlax just stays awake for a few minutes and returns straight to sleep. I don't know why this one is so angry.

Leon: Well lets just see this as a bit of extra training before the next gym.

They begin their assault but due to the leftovers it's eating it just regains all of health. It Headbutts Rai and Una into the water, needing Wart to save them both.

Leon: Take this!

Leon burns the Snorlax with Ember, negating the recovery from the leftovers. Even so, it uses Rest and recovers from the burn and all of its health.

Leon: Oh my god! Una, we need another barrier, we gotta find out how to get pass this thing.

Una: Got it!

She surrounds them with a silk string barrier and uses Harden to reinforce it.

Leon: So Otto, you got anymore info on how we can rid of this thing?

Otto: I want to figure out why it's so angry, it has food so it can't be hungry, it was just sleeping when it used Rest so it can't be mad we woke it up. The only thing is mayb-

Before she could finish the Snorlax broke through the barrier. It continues its rampage attacking the group while Otto tries to get close but is continuously swatted away.

Otto: Leon, get up close and distract it!

Leon: Alright! Hey Snorlax, watch this!

He sends out a rapid flurry of Fire Punches that do basically nothing as they bounce off. Otto swoops in and pulls a splinter out of the back of its foot. The Snorlax begins to calm down and eventually falls back asleep.

Ivy: What did you do?

Otto: It had to mad about something aside from us waking it up so I thought it might be hurt somewhere in a way that's preventing it from falling back asleep. This bridge is made of wood so I assumed it may be a splinter.

And with that, they finally start pushing forward though the rest of the route, but not before Otto reaches her final evolution into a Pidgeot.

Episode End.
