Chapter 31 - Meeting and his return

Elizabeth and Dyson sat alone in his office after Chief Inspector Vans had retired for the day.

It had been three days since they last spoke, after she informed him about the possible relationship between Noel Cassius and Harrison Aurthur. Both of them have been busy privately researching about Noel Cassius and any possible way to get to him.

"Is there a way to meet with him?" Dyson asked. He had never been this tired in a long while, this further proved that the person he was dealing with was too sneaky.

"I've figured a way…which may or may not be of help." Elizabeth sighed. She had been sending text messages to Noel but only a few had been replied and earlier today, she had sent him a message for them to meet up which of course was refused, ignored would be the right word to put in.

"What way?" Dyson held his hands together and leaned closer.

"Ha." She sighed and stated, "I've been trying to ask him to meet up with me but it's of no use, maybe if I send him a picture of Harrison-''

Before Elizabeth could finish speaking, her phone was snatched.

"Hey!" She groaned.

"I'm sorry but I should do this." Dyson breathed in sharply. He cracked his fingers and quickly but exceptionally typed away.

"You're right, we have nothing against him but if he really has a relationship with the CEO of Northern Visuals, then he'll definitely try to protect him." Dyson explained without glancing away from the phone for even a millisecond.

"So…you wanna threaten him with that?"

"Of course, if Harrison truly is a friend or family member of his. Then, he'll definitely try to keep him away from his scandalous deeds."

"I would have done that if you didn't snatch the phone away." Elizabeth clicked her tongue.

"No, you're too soft. You might even end of letting it slide for the sake of the clueless Harrison." Dyson chuckled, his every word dripping with sarcasm.

Meanwhile, in a pretty gloomy villa, a young man was seated on the couch, his face shrouded in the shadows.

He stared at the pinging phone on the table and picked it up. The message was from the little bird he had come to know after a few months.

But the content of the message didn't seem like what a person like her could possibly send, her non-understanding mind won't comprehend such things.

The message was just a few pictures and a text. The photos were pictures of fangs and fang marks in the body of some people and under the pictures was a short text,

*I know what you are*

Noel took a deep breath and muttered with a small smile, "Of course you do."

He then replied to the message with an address for them to meet up.

*~*

But back in the station, Dyson deleted the entire chat history he sent and handed the phone back to Elizabeth.

"I deleted the chat history to avoid any implications, you know what I mean." He stood up and arranged his files, "He has agreed to meet up, but you will be the one to go." He added and smiled.

He told her the address and the day they had agreed to meet but except that, he said nothing else, he simply picked up his items and left.

Elizabeth was stumped, she had tried talking Noel into meeting up with her but all her messages were left on read but Dyson's message was quickly replied to and he even agreed to meet up. Whatever it was that both of them discussed was fishy and to top it off, Dyson deleted the chat history, it made it even more suspicious.

Elizabeth sighed and left the office. She'd meet him tomorrow and she could not afford to think about anything that'll jeopardise her mission.

The next day came earlier than she expected, the night was short since all her thoughts were on her up-coming meeting with her 'boss'.

Elizabeth and Dyson had decided to take a day off with the excuse of travelling to a town to investigate a few mishaps. But, they instead drove to the cafe where Noel and Elizabeth were expected to meet.

Elizabeth got out of the car, leaving Dyson in it.

She went into the cafe that was already emptied out, the only person in the cafe had a newspaper covering his face.

Elizabeth sighed and walked towards the person, she sat opposite the man that was concentrating on his paper, he had an overwhelming aura that was further amplified by his all black choice of clothing.

The smell of Jasmine white tea invaded her senses as soon as she sat down, it was just like that day, back in Vandhill, the man who was clad in black with a newspaper in his hand was also drinking Jasmine white tea.

'He's been watching for quite a while now.' She thought inwardly, if he had been watching which means he had purposely let her destroy his bullsh*t town.

"I think I should be given the privilege of seeing my boss's face." Elizabeth's voice broke the haunting silence with a frown on her face.

The newspaper was slowly brought down and the face behind it had a smirk on his lips. She had already expected this level of handsomeness but it was further amplified as the soft glow of the sun fell upon his face.

Elizabeth breathed in sharply and said, "It's freaky how you dress like this in the middle of summer."

"Pardon me, but the sun isn't really something I'm quite pleased with." Noel said. His enchanting voice was low but it struck chords, "So why was I called here?" He asked.

"I wanted to inform you that I've paid a lot, the 'packages' I've delivered are enough to pay for your stupid cult town."

"So what do you want?"

"Leave my family alone or else I'd just have to report that you're responsible for the recent deaths."

"And who'd believe you?" He rested his chin on his hand with a small smile.

"I wonder how many enemies Mr. Harrison has, surely 90 percent of them would believe me and 10 percent might not but they'll still use it to bring him down."

The small smile on Noel's lips didn't falter; instead it grew a little wider, none of them were willing to back away. Noel glanced at her neck and sighed, "What pretty necklace you have there."

Elizabeth looked down at her, the strong being tied to Casper's bracelet and immediately understood what he meant.

"What do you mean?" She squinted her eyes in question.

"I disposed of that in the woods, I honestly never knew you'd find it." He sighed again and pressed his lips into a thin line. He took out his phone and showed the person on the screen to her, "If you tell on me, then this little baby would suffer for no reason.

The child on the screen had dark brown hair and inky black eyes, he looked to be no less than three years old and was quite pale, he was older but familiar.

"Casper." Elizabeth breathed out a familiar name. She shot up and yelled, "Where is my brother?"

"Calm down, Miss Elizabeth. He's fine and you can meet him whenever you want." He smiles innocently.

Elizabeth was pissed, annoyed, angry, upset, confused and sad, many other emotions welled up in her heart as various emotions flashed past her eyes. She almost grabbed Noel by the collar but a soothing voice calmed her down. The earpiece in her ear resonated Dyson's voice, she then flashed a tight-lipped smile and sat down feeling like she was on a hot seat.

"You can come back now." Dyson's voice came through again and Elizabeth stood up.

"I'll contact you again…please respond." She added the latter words with a pleading tone before hurriedly leaving the cafe, she did not bother to glance back even once, she also took off the earpiece and ignored Dyson, before hailing a cab back to her apartment.

She shut the door as soon as she went in, she then turned off every means that could be used to contact her before plopping on her bed. Whatever she did, Noel was always a step forward. She watched that house burn for hours but the body of her little brother wasn't found which means he was still alive but who saved him? Was it the same Noel who was on her back? Or probably Harrison? But why did they take him away instead of bringing him back? How did they even take him out of the fire?

She glanced at her phone and turned it on again in case Noel contacted her. Her pounding head throbbed even more when the phone rang but she jerked up ignoring the pain in her head and instead picked up the call.

"Yes? Can I see h-" She hurriedly tried to ask but the voice from the other side cut her off.

"Did you miss me that much, Liz?" The male voice chuckled and Elizabeth paused in her tracks, her lips twitched.

There was only one person who called her by that name and it was Jayce, her long lost boyfriend…
