"Thank you so much officer for helping me out." The old woman gratefully thanked her for retrieving her belongings that had been snatched by a thief earlier.
"No worries. It's my responsibility to help people." She stated, appreciating the woman's gratitude.
The police who were assigned to the checkpoint area, saluted her and she returned the gesture quickly. "That was a huge catch officer, Lian." One of the police commented. The rest of the police laughed.
"As if I wasn't that determined as before," she chuckled.
After a couple of minutes, she made the decision to return to their car. "So, I'll leave the task of handling this stubborn criminal to all of you." she stated pointing at the thief. The police immediately nodded their heads in agreement.
As she was about to get inside the car, the guy who was panicking earlier inside was staring at her intently through the windshield as if his stare was like she was being buried alive. She walked slowly towards the car, noticing how his eyes never left her. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she realized the intensity of his gaze. Finally, she reached the driver's seat. She immediately started the car to leave.
It was already six in the evening when they arrived at the mansion. She was the first one who went outside the car and made her way inside the mansion, her right hand was tucked inside her leather jacket while twirling the key on her hands.
She walked away as if nothing had happened, appearing completely unfazed.
He furiously grabbed the wrist of the woman to let her face him.
Lian Qiang was surprised by what he did.
"Does it seem like it doesn't matter to you about what happened?" He asked furiously not wanting his voice to get loud since his father had already arrived at the mansion from his business trip.
"What?" she asked innocently.
He chuckled in disbelief and grasp some air to breathe. "I almost died!" He couldn't control his anger. The loud voice he shouted echoed inside the mansion.
"And, did you die?" She asked sarcastically attempting to leave him. He couldn't handle his temper that's why he decided to grab her wrist again for the second time.
"What!" She called out, her gaze grows stronger.
"Even if I die or not. You should be careful!"
"What?" She chuckled. "You're not hurt at all, so how can you claim I've never been careful?"
"Whether I got hurt or not, it's still the same!"
"That's enough!" A man with a baritone voice shouted trying to stop them from creating a fight. He was at the hall of the mansion, in front of them.
"Dad" "Mr. Zhang" They both said at once. Lian Qiang bowed down slightly her head to show her respect to the man who appeared from the hallway.
"Mr. Zhang, I'm so sorry for the trouble." She respectably stated.
"No, dad she put me in hell. I almost died--" He couldn't finish his words.
"I said enough!," The atmosphere outside went silent, no one dared to speak.
"Let's have dinner inside. I've been waiting here for a while." Mr. Zhang finally stated.
They entered quietly, making their way to the dinner table and taking their seats. The maids began serving delicious food one by one. As the food was being prepared, Lian Qiang felt a sudden pang of hunger in her stomach. Mr. Zhang was seated at the end corner of the table, while the two of them sat across from each other.
She was eager to eat because the prepared food was delicious. She was staring at the food that was already prepared in front, when suddenly someone kicked her foot underneath the dining table. Her gaze turned to Zhang Jin, furiously. She mumbled to him, 'What?' But she immediately got what he's been trying to say because of his facial expression. It was as if he was saying, 'Don't look at the food like that' while his eyes widened.
Lian Qiang brightened up with her idea as she stepped on to the young man's foot underneath the table that made him yelled out in pain. "Oh I'm so sorry for that, Zhang Jin. I didn't know your feet were there." She said, a hint sarcastic on her tone.
The man's eyes in front of them were both staring at them, " Let's eat." Mr. Zhang stated.
Lian Qiang's eyes were glistening when she heard that, as if she was on a cloud nine. The flavors burst in her mouth as she took a bite, resulting in her closing her eyes and smiling. She enjoyed the flaky skin that held it together as well as the delicious pork filling. She was at her moment tasting the delicious food when Zhang Jin stepped on his foot again causing her to scream a bit.
"What is wrong, officer?" Mr. Zhang asked, concerned.
"Ah, nothing Mr. Zhang. I just coughed a little." She lied and made a fake cough. While eating, her eyes were fixated on him, staring intensely as if she wanted to strangle him until he couldn't breathe. Zhang Jin's eyes were also on her, glaring intensely back at her.
They were both doing that until Mr. Zhang asked about the case, "What is the latest news about that notorious group?" Lian Qiang immediately shifted her gaze to Mr. Zhang and seated herself properly. Her gluttony expression earlier was replaced by a serious expression.
She cleared her throat. "The cybercrime unit was still working on that Mr. Zhang. Since, we still don't have any trace about them and their members' identity was still unknown."
He nodded his head.
She started to say, "But I've already suspected one of the gang members named—" but Zhang Jin stepped on her foot again, this time a little harder, and she yelped a little.
Again, Mr. Zhang appeared confused.
"I'm sorry. Maybe I'm having a little cold right now," She lied.
"You should take some medicine. It even rained earlier." he said, concerned.
"I'm okay Mr. Zhang, I can handle it." She smiled a bit.
Just as the man next to them turned his gaze to his food. She quickly recovered and appeared calmed and gave Zhang Jin a fierce look, as if her rage could kill him. When she got a chance to get the revenge she wanted—she stomped her foot quickly at him very strong indeed while he was drinking water.
The water splashed a bit and he started coughing.
"Do you have a cough too, son?" Asked in concerned for his son as well.
"Ah no dad, I-I was j-just choked from the water." He was struggling saying those words because of the tingling sensation in his throat and the pain that came from the woman stomped on his foot.
He looked at her with a face turning red with anger. His eyes were full of intenseness because of what the woman did to him. But what made him even angrier was when Lian Qiang stuck out her tongue at him, acting like a child.
