Inside were two middle school students, enjoying their weekend by going to the internet cafe together.
However, their joyful weekend suddenly turned into a horrifying nightmare as the apocalypse broke out, catching them completely off guard.
They used to fantasize about how they would save the world if the apocalypse ever happened. But now, they were trembling with fear. Fortunately, they managed to escape into the restroom and brought some food, which was the only reason they had survived until now.
However, it was only delaying their inevitable death since the outside was filled with wandering zombies, making it impossible for them to escape.
They now realized that only the protagonists of novels could save the world, while they were nothing more than struggling and surviving ordinary people.
Both of them were becoming desperate, and hunger even caused their vision to blur.
"I'm hallucinating. I swear I saw someone stuffing papers under the door!" said one of the emaciated middle school students.
"I heard someone knocking on the door just now."
"Is there really someone coming to save us?"
"What are you thinking? With so many zombies outside, who would dare to come to the internet cafe!"
Seeing paper cards continually appearing under the door, the two of them unsteadily got up and approached the door.
"Home delivery service, phone number..."
Looking at the content of the cards, the two of them were stunned. These were the same advertisements they saw everywhere in the restroom.
"You carry me. The top of the restroom door is made of transparent glass. I'll check outside," suggested one student with a hopeful expression, trembling with excitement.
Could it be that someone was really coming to save them?
Zombies wouldn't stuff small ads under the door.
The two of them wobbled and one student stood on the other's shoulders.
Both of them were starving, but the sudden hope surging within them boosted their adrenaline, providing them with newfound strength.
The student pressed his face against the transparent glass, trying to look outside.
Shaun heard the noise and was aware of the students' actions. He had already pushed the wandering zombies outside the internet cafe and saw the student observing the outside.
He stepped back, allowing the student to have a clear view, and even friendly waved at him.
The student's face was filled with excitement when he saw a person wearing sunglasses, a black plastic bag around his mouth, and a bright red down jacket with a pink curtain behind him.
Though the person looked abnormal, the fact that he was waving at them in a friendly manner brought immense relief.
"Let me down! Someone is really coming to save us!" the student exclaimed with excitement, tears welling up in his eyes. In this apocalyptic world, it was rare to encounter such warmth and compassion.
Disregarding their own life-threatening situation, this person came to rescue strangers.
He climbed down shakily, almost stumbling.
Creak!
The door was opened, and the two worn-out students walked out.
"Thank you, mister... thank you so much!" they said with trembling voices, their faces filled with overwhelming gratitude.
Shaun's expression stiffened; mister? He was just a high school student before turning into a zombie, wasn't he?
How dare they disrespect me like this!
Shaun slowly approached and kindly patted the students' heads.
A sense of inexplicable security washed over the two, and they threw themselves into Shaun's arms, bursting into tears.
However, wasn't it too daring of them to throw themselves into the arms of a zombie?
Shaun also embraced them, gently retracting the black plastic bag from his mouth.
It was like a TV drama where beauties would unveil themselves gracefully.
But instead of revealing a face, Shaun's mouth was covered in bloodstains.
"Ahh... It hurts... It hurts so much!" Both students almost screamed in shock, feeling a sudden intense pain in their necks.
They immediately pushed Shaun away, their eyes filled with disbelief.
They found that Shaun's mouth was smeared with a large amount of fresh blood.
"You... You?!" they exclaimed, covering the wounds on their necks, their eyes filled with shock.
To their terrified gaze, the zombie suddenly put the black plastic bag back on his mouth, casually shook his head, and turned away in a chic manner!
What the hell was this thing?!
The two of them didn't have time to shout out; their vision suddenly became blurry, and their consciousness began to fade.
"Ding! The host successfully infected one person, Evolution Points +10!"
...
Shaun swung the pink cloak dramatically and left with an air of elegance.
With cold and heartless eyes behind his sunglasses, he gazed into the distance, a gentle breeze brushing against him, creating a sense of lonely charm.
Suddenly, he noticed a colorful radiance descending nearby. He couldn't let humans get there before him!
He saw a small green car nearby, and with his immense strength, he forcefully removed the lock and hopped in with ease.
He lowered his head, focusing intently, and carefully avoided the wandering zombies ahead. As he moved forward, the wind lifted his pink cloak.
A handsome zombie was dashing through the streets on a small green car.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Due to poor eyesight, his terrible driving skills, and stiff joints, he collided with zombies all along the way!
If the zombies had any consciousness, they would have pummeled Shaun for sure!
After a ten-minute ride, he finally arrived at his destination.
When he got off the car, the front wheels of the small green car had bent ninety degrees.
He lifted his head slightly and saw the colorful radiance just within reach, exuding a dreamlike beauty. It had landed on a five-story building with an open rooftop.
He needed to find an entrance to go up.
Shaun began to wander around the building and soon found an iron door on the left side, which seemed to be the entrance.
Bang!
But it was locked?! Damn, this iron door was too secure; even with his strength, he couldn't open it.
Shaun quickly noticed a few zombies next to the building.
Two of them were sitting on stone benches with a chessboard in the middle. Apparently, they were two elderly people playing chess who turned into zombies.
Shaun walked over and sneakily searched their pockets.
Soon, he found a bunch of keys that could probably unlock the iron door.
Shaun turned around and, sneakily, approached the iron door.
He began trying one key after another, feeling an inexplicable excitement inside.
After numerous attempts, he finally found the right key and directly opened the iron door.
Inside, it was dimly lit, and the sensor lights were not activated.
Shaun looked at the flight of stairs ahead and felt a headache coming on.
This old-style building didn't even have an elevator; he had to climb the stairs one by one.
Each floor had two households, and there were eight households living here. But four of the doors were open.
He saw zombies lying inside those open doors!
Their limbs were obviously broken, struggling to get up but failing.
Someone had been here; that was the only possibility!
However, Shaun didn't pay any attention to them and went straight to the rooftop.
The Divine Descent Talent! Here I come!
When he reached the rooftop, he found that the door was closed again, and it didn't have any keyholes on the outside; it was locked from the inside.
Are there people up there?!
Could someone have taken away the Talent?
Shaun's heart filled with concern, but he soon heard voices.
"Brother! Although we don't know what this colorful light is, I'm willing to take the risk!"
"Let me do it! I'm younger, not afraid of death, and you must survive well in this apocalypse!"
"What are you two pretending for? Isn't there a prompt message when you get close? Even a fool can understand it!"
"Randomly obtain a Talent that can enhance your survival in the apocalypse!"
Shaun was startled. He heard three people on the rooftop, but they were arguing.
It seemed that the Talent had not been absorbed yet!
