I stared at the crystal ball and wrinkled my nose as I watched Rosemary, Saffron, their infant, and Saffron's family laughing together, their joy radiating like sunlight through the glass. It made my stomach churn. Those rotten people. They think they can be happy, but I would be sure to end that soon.
The image in the ball flickered, showing the warmth of their gathering, the way Anis's laughter seemed to light up the entire backyard. I felt my fingers twitch with irritation, a dark energy swirling within me. Rose has taken the man I wanted for myself.
I leaned closer, trying to catch every detail, every smile that twisted the knife deeper into my heart. Rosemary's laughter rang out, a sound that grated against my ears like nails on a chalkboard. Saffron looked so content, his eyes sparkling as he cradled his daughter, as if nothing in the world could touch him. They were so blind to the storm brewing just beyond their happy little bubble.
