I hummed as I glanced over all the notes on my desk. They were reports I had commissioned, detailing the issues plaguing the kingdom.
There were several concerns regarding high taxes, especially amongst those living in the Makkuroyama and Taisho Grand Dutchies.
Lady Makkuroyama had been trying to placate the populace, but to no success. She feared another rebellion like the kind that took her husband's life.
I scratched my head. Unfortunately, our tax situation wasn't an easy one to solve. The kingdom's coffers were still not as full as we wanted. War with Kasai no Ki had also drained what few gains we had made.
In fact, it seemed like the financial situation was getting worse, not better. Maybe lowering taxes could help? I had learned in my studies in Amadeus and Mizu no Kin that if taxes are too high, it could lead to depressed revenues.
