After we finished eating, we returned to the skies. Pumpkin was still a little solemn. Losing Yukito still weighed heavily on her. He was a good friend, the closest friend she ever had. He always made her laugh and cheered her up when she was down. It was not surprising that those feelings of friendship eventually blossomed into feelings of love.
I glanced at Milo. He was a lot like him. I didn't want Koyuki to treat him as a replacement, and surely she didn't, but I did hope that Milo would help her move on. She needed to focus on her future, not the past.
Milo flew closer to Koyuki, as if sensing her melancholy. He smiled as the tips of their wings nearly touched.
Pumpkin glanced at him and smiled slightly.
Gael laughed as he stared at them.
I smiled. My eyes shifted to the mountains straight ahead. They were a beautiful sight to behold. So tall, and covered in white snow.
