*Saffron*
I stared at the desert sky. The sun was beginning to set over the horizon. It would be night soon.
My eyes shifted to the desert dunes. Thus far, I'd seen no sign of the dragon. The desert winds helped bury any tracks it or they might've left behind.
I pressed my hands against the ground. A strange sensation tickled my palms. The nature of sand made my seismic sense fuzzy.
I sighed. There were many things I hated about this land. The sand was the worst part of it.
The flutter of wings drew my eyes skyward again.
Kisara waved. "Any success, Captain?"
I shook my head. "No."
"Same here."
"What about the others?"
She frowned. "Most of us haven't seen any signs of the dragon."
I looked down. "I see."
"Are you sure staying back was the right decision?"
I nodded. "Yeah. Right now, Taisho base needs to focus on reconstruction and ensuring the defense of the region."
