As I stepped outside, the darkness enveloped me once more, but the protective gear helped. I took a deep breath, allowing the cold filtered air to fill my lungs.
The atmosphere felt charged, almost alive, as if the darkness was responding to my presence. I activated the communication device in my suit, connecting back to the lab. "Back outside now. Monitoring the readings."
"Understood," Elyss's voice crackled through. "Keep us updated on any fluctuations."
I stepped closer to the chasm. The watch-like device on my suit showed the fluctuations of the darkness around me. They thankfully weren't too wild.
Even after everything Kyung told me about Abyssia, and even having gone there myself, there was still a sense of mystery about its darkness.
