Anis looked sad as the day passed. She clearly missed her daddy.
I smiled. "It's okay, Anis. He'll be back before you know it."
She let out a weak goo.
"Me too, baby," I replied, my heart aching. "I'm going to miss him so much."
She cooed.
I pulled her close, the feeling of her warmth reminding me that she was here and she was safe. "I'm going to do everything I can to protect you while your father's gone," I said, my voice trembling slightly. "I promise."
As the sun set, casting a warm glow across the room, I held her close, my thoughts drifting to Saffron. I hoped he was safe and that he would come home to us soon.

Saffron shiverered as I touched his chest further. He panted. "You really are a tease."
I grinned. "What are you talking about?"
He blushed. "This is going to make me miss you even more."
