Mia picked up our youngest son, rocking him in her arms. "You okay, baby?" she cooed, trying to soothe him.
I smiled, hoping to lighten the mood. "Are you hungry, sport?" I asked.
Osamu just kept wailing, his little face scrunched up in distress. It was hard to tell if he was even aware of my presence.
Azami grumbled as he woke up from his younger brother's crying. He picked up Osamu's lion and waved it.
I snickered and ruffled my oldest son's white hair. "Nice thinking, Aza!" I turned to my younger son. "Look, Osa! It's your lion buddy, Mr. Leo!" I animated the plushie, making it bounce and sway in front of Osamu.
Osamu's cries continued, but he flicked his gaze toward the lion, momentarily distracted.
Mia smiled faintly as she rocked him, the rhythmic motion seeming to calm him just a little. "Come on, sweetie, look at Mr. Leo," she encouraged, trying to coax a response from him.
