Saffron began to move around the room, methodically setting up wards. His movements were deliberate, each gesture imbued with a sense of urgency and determination. He whispered incantations under his breath, drawing symbols in the air that shimmered briefly before fading.
I held Anis close, rocking her gently to calm both her and myself. The thought of Cyra, the malevolent witch who had caused so much pain and chaos, still lingering over us sent chills down my spine. I had hoped that chapter of our lives was closed, but it seemed she had other plans.
"Do you think this will be enough?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly.
Saffron looked at me, his eyes filled with resolve. "It has to be. These wards are strong. They'll alert us if she tries to breach them."
I nodded, trying to draw strength from his certainty. "We'll protect her, no matter what."
