The soft glow of the nightlight cast a warm hue over the room, and the rhythmic hum of the breathing machine filled the silence. As I lay beside Anis, exhaustion finally pulling me into a restless sleep, my mind couldn't escape the weight of the day's events and the looming uncertainties.
