Saffron
I woke up early again and quickly got back to work on construction of the tower. We still had a lot to do.
Channeling the mana of the stack of bricks with my right hand, I lifted them into place. with my left hand, I dissolved part of the bricks to form cement to keep them together. Doing so was energy consuming, but it was more practical than renting a large cement truck.
I repeated the actions until I heard a pair of familiar footsteps approach.
"You're here early," Jiro said as she and Rohan joined me.
Rohan smiled. "You truly are an inspiration, Captain."
Was I?
"I just want to get this done as soon as possible," I replied, pausing my stone levitating to wipe the sweat off my brow. "The sooner we finish, the sooner we can move on to the next task."
Jiro nodded. "I understand, Captain. You wish to return to return to your wife, correct?"
My cheeks warmed up a little.
