I walked into the central meeting room.
A red-haired man sat on the tallest throne in the room. He smirked as soon as he saw me. "Nice of you to show up, little brother."
I took a deep breath. He greeted me warmly, but I had a feeling he was just trying to soft me up before giving me a good scolding. I'd messed up.
"Nervous, huh? Guess that means you know why I summoned you here?"
I nodded.
He took a deep breath. "You really messed up, little bro. Making a big scene in Kuroriku like that. You're always so dang flashy."
I sat down. "I wanted to do things your way, but the Demon Hunters' Guild captain didn't let me. If he hadn't fought back, I would taken dad out without a hitch."
Tabiki closed his eyes. "And the illusions you made to sow chaos?"
"C'mon. You're the emperor of Kasai no Ki. You know very well that one can't make an omelette without cracking a few eggs."
