I gasped and ran toward the sound of the shade. He was mumbling my name in an infatuated tone.
"Uh, is he saying Koyuki?" I overheard Rose ask the Majors.
"Sounds like it," Kine said, chuckling.
Kisa snickered. "What a loverboy that Milo turned out to be."
I heated up at their comments, but I kept my focus on the shade. It felt odd to see a part of Milo in this state, mumbling my name with such longing. I knew he liked me, but there was something sad about his tone. It made me want to hug him and tell him everything would be okay.
"Koyuki," the shade murmured again, its voice echoing throughout the cavern.
I hesitated for a moment, then took a step forward. "Milo?" I called out softly.
The shade turned toward my voice, its form flickering like a candle in the wind. "Koyuki," it repeated, a touch of hope in its voice.
