Koyuki
I sighed as night fell over Milo and Saffron's little hometown. After Milo's siblings found out what happened to their brother, they haven't left his side. If only I'd been more watchful during that battle, I could've protected him.
Closing my eyes, I shook my head. Ugh. I was doing it again. I had to stop blaming myself. But it was easier said than done. As lieutenant, I had a duty to protect those under me. The responsibility was mine.
The door creaked open.
"Hey," Yuki said, poking his head in. "Want a night snack?"
I giggled as I looked over my shoulder. "Thanks, but it's not good to eat before bed. It can give you an upset stomach."
He scratched his head. "Really? It helps me sleep."
"Say, how is Saffron's family?" Saffron's mother had asked Milo's mother if it was alright if they stayed the night here, but I didn't get to overhear why. But her face told me that something was bothering her.
