I glanced at Kine as we neared the town. "Thanks for picking me up, Kine."
He smiled even as he kept his eyes on the road. "It's the least that I can do for you, Princess. Plus, I would hate to see Captain Saffron sad."
Kine. He was as nice as when we were kids.
I eyed a mud puddle in the distance and smiled. It brought back memories of simpler days, back when the greatest concern we had was keeping our clothes clean.

I sat in the garden as the adults and the rest of the kids chatted and played.
"Why are you by yourself, Princess?" a voice asked.
I looked up and saw Kine. He was a bit older than big bro. His kid-sized suit was messed up by all the running around and literal mud slinging.
"Lost?" I asked.
He sighed. "Yeah. Your brother got me."
He pointed to his muddy suit and I couldn't help but giggle.
