The villagers of Nokian stood outside their homes. There were cracks on the pavement from the shaking earlier.
Yukito was talking to some kids, trying to console them. He looked over his shoulder and smiled weakly at me.
"Oh, hey," he said, walking over to me. His dark blue eyes glanced around the place. "Wait, where is Koyuki?"
"She's investigating the part of the cavern leading to the chasm to find out what caused the ground to shake We think the doctor might've destroyed the cavern."
He furrowed his brow. "Doctor? Oh, right. That guy."
I nodded. We had to be wary about talking about the Abysmal doctor. We didn't want to alarm the residents by having them know the man who had kidnapped their kids was behind this.
I looked around at the worried faces of the villagers. They had been through so much already. I didn't want them to continue living in fear of the doctor.
