Chapter 10 - Chapter 8 - Disciple Yang.... Wins the match!

"Name."

As soon as Siphyr neared the man next to the disciple that looked to be about in his thirties.

The middle-aged man said prompting him for his name.

'Should I create a fake name? Nah, it's not like I want to hide my identity that much. It'll be discovered later in the future anyway.'

'Also, I'll just change my family name for now.'

"Yang Siphyr."

As Siphyr said his fake name, the middle-aged man began carving it in a bronze medallion.

On the other side of the medallion, the word spirit peak was engraved.

"Here, this is your identity token, don't lose it." Said the middle-aged man as he handed Siphyr his token.

Afterwards, Siphyr entered through the entrance and was met with a large stage in the middle of lodges.

Upon seeing the sight of houses under the mountain surrounding the stage, he proceeded to enter the line.

The line wasn't that long as most people had been defeated in an instant or managed to protect themselves for several seconds.

"Argh!" The one that entered the stage justĀ  before Siphyr was sent flying a few meters before crashing to the stage's hard floor.

He grunted in pain before another red robes disciple helped him up and guided him somewhere.

Finally, it was Siphyr's turn and he entered the stage with confidence and as soon as he stepped on it, his father's words reverberated inside his mind.

"The key to living an unbothered life? Of course it's simple....."

"Don't ever let someone order you around."

His father said those words to him when he asked him for advice when he was still a kid.

And those words have been engraved to his mind ever since.

That's why, in order to live freely and unbothered in this sect or peak, he must at least be on the top.

'If you show overwhelming power at this peak, naturally your status will immediately rise, from then on who will ever want to bother you.' Siphyr believed.

'Well, maybe some idiotic people but I can just get rid of them or take some subordinates to take care of them.'

Or so he thought and a plan to make subordinates immediately popped up.

That will be his first step in living an unbothered life in this sect as he grows stronger.

"It's your turn, come up the stage with your weapon and prepare yourself."

The one who spoke wasn't Siphyr's opponent but a serious looking beautiful girl in red robes.

Her eyes were dark and her stare could make a chill run down one's spine. Other than that she also had an hourglass figure that attracted every man's gaze.

However, the moment they layed upon her eyes, they retracted their gaze, afraid of what she might do.

Yet, the moment her gaze landed on Siphyr, he smiled in response as his eyes closed in an arc.

Seeing Siphyr smile, the girl was taken aback for a moment before returning to her previous darkened expression.

Siphyr learned many things in his life and one of them is that some serious women can also be the kindest person.

He learned this from experience as one of his mother was such.

His mother's gaze is narrow like a phoenix and in public no one dared to look at her, afraid that they might offend her.

However, the moment she returns to her family, she becomes the kindest and sweetest person.

As such, Siphyr learned to not judge someone by their appearance.

After all, in this cultivation world, appearance could be the most deceiving.

"Show me your token." Interrupting his thoughts the moment he stepped on the stage, his opponent told him to bring out his medallion.

And so he did, he took out his medallion and showed it to him from front to back and the man nodded.

"The fight will start the moment this coin lands on the ground. I will give you ten seconds to hide your token and prepare yourself with your spear." As he said that the man took a fighting stance.

Siphyr followed after hiding the token in his robe.

"The same rules will apply to you, attack me with everything you got and if you manage to defeat me, you will get twice the amount of the monthly distribution."

His opponent explained and Siphyr's Illusionary Gaze activated in order to pry into his opponent's cultivation base.

'1st stage of the Awakening Realm, at least this match won't be too unfair to disciples. Though without cultivation the likelihood of them winning is nigh impossible.' Siphyr thought.

'But.... Against me, I'll be able to defeat him with ease if I use everything I got. However, I'll just use the spear and weaken him a bit with my Illusionary Gaze.'

Siphyr was confident and although he won't be using everything his got, the chances of him winning is still definite.

Siphyr formed a stance with his spear.

Both Siphyr's hands gripped the spear and his head aligned with it as he crouched a little finalizing his stance.

Seeing him finish preparing his stance, the man was astonished. Not because of Siphyr's stance but the unfathomable aura around him.

The man naturally didn't know what the aura was because he was still at a low level of spear users.

It was spear intent and the only one capable of seeing this in the bottom of the mountain was Siphyr and the girl from before.

She was looking at Siphyr, still with an indifferent narrowed gaze, but if looked closely there was a slight interest gleaming in her eyes.

At last, the man toss the coin up in the air and he soon made his stance.

As he tossed the coin up in the air, time seemed to slow down and Siphyr's focus reach its peak.

Ultimately once the coin landed on the ground.

-Clang!

Siphyr disappeared from his spot and approached his fellow disciple at a speed which the disciple wasn't able to react.

"I.... I surrender."

Silence....

Only silence could be heard around the area as the disciple admitted his defeat.

No one expected him to lose, much less forced to admit defeat.

But unfortunately for him, with the tip of the spear centimeters away from his eyes, there wasn't anything he could do but surrender.

"Disciple Yang.... Wins the match!"

Announced the girl, she was also surprised by the result but remembering he had spear intent it was expected that he would win.

As the result sounded with the win of a newcomer. Many disciples watching cheered, especially the ones who came back after losing.

A truly unprecedented expectation occurred and this caused most newcomers to look at Siphyr with respect.
