Chapter 1 - Chapter 16: Einherjar Dave

Dave's PoV

I don't know how I managed to do all that. I don't know how I ended up killing the person I loved. The last thing I remember is being at home, contemplating how to tell my parents that I'm pregnant. Suddenly, I lost consciousness.

When I woke up, he was in front of me, lifeless. I was shocked and panicked, looking at my hands covered in blood, still holding the knife I used on her. How did this happen? I asked myself. Out of fear, I hurriedly jumped out of their house window.

Now, a day has passed, and I find myself in a dark and foul place, consumed by fear. I feel like I'm losing myself, overwhelmed by terror. Alone, I noticed a figure not far away, wearing a black hood with no face. I got scared, wondering if I'm going crazy as I see strange things.

Driven by fear, I ran and screamed, but it kept chasing me relentlessly. I had no idea of its intentions, but I had a strong sense that they were not good. While running, I tripped and fell onto the concrete, unable to stand as I felt my ankle was fractured. I lost all hope and looked up, not realizing that a piece of metal had fallen on my face.

Valkyrie's Pov

I witnessed Dave's soul being taken by a Heidar, which I couldn't allow. I hastened my steps, observing Dave struggling to break free.

I raised my hand, summoning my weapon called Nibelung, which only appears when I wear my ring – the Ring of Ublang. I brandished it, and a bright light emerged.

"Release him!" I commanded, and the Heidar let go of the Einherjar.

Raising my sword, I uttered the incantation that would bring an end to the Heidar.

"Umra Vallesti!" The sword-shaped light streaked towards the Heidar, engulfing it, and in an instant, it vanished.

Erena's Pov

Dave?

But how?

I thought he only takes deserving souls? Why him too?

I am confused...

After a while, Valkyrie spoke to me.

"Yes, Erena, I know it's difficult to comprehend and accept right now that I will take him as an Einherjar. However, I see potential in him to fight in Ragnarok. Besides, he was just used by the Heidar," Valkyrie explained.

"Why would the Heidar use him?" I asked her again.

"You will find out in due time, Erena," was her only response.

I had no choice but to accept what will happen next.

Dave's POV

******++++++******

I suddenly found myself in a dark void. Am I in purgatory? I wouldn't be surprised if I end up in hell, as that would be an inadequate punishment compared to what I did – killing the person I loved.

"It's still too early for that, Dave," I heard a calm yet fierce voice of a woman.

"Who are you?" I asked loudly.

In the midst of the darkness, I gradually made out a woman. As my eyes adjusted, I was mesmerized by what I saw. She wore armor, and her Golden-Silver hair was strikingly beautiful. Most of all, I was captivated by her mismatched eyes. I rarely see something like this, yet it still puzzled me.

"Wh-who are you?" I asked, confused.

"My name doesn't matter right now, but you can call me Valkyrie," she replied, her captivating and expressive eyes fixed on me.

The name sounds familiar, like something I've read in Norse mythology. It's quite exciting.

"Valkyrie, does that mean you are the Battle Maiden Valkyrie from Norse mythology, who gathers souls to fight in Ragnarok?" I asked, filled with anticipation.

"It doesn't matter what you know about me, Dave. What's important now is that you are one of the worthy Einherjar who will fight in Ragnarok," she answered seriously.

I couldn't contain my excitement.

"Really?! Does that mean I have powers too?! And will I get to battle-"

"Quiet! If you behave like that, I might change my mind. I have only one question for you. Will you join or not?" she replied with anger, and it scared me, but I couldn't help but eagerly respond, "Isn't it obvious? Of course, I'll join!"

Suddenly, my whole body lit up, and I found myself in a bright surrounding. I couldn't believe what I saw.

"Oh my God? Erena?" She just smiled.
