Chapter 11
Lucius emerged from his bath, his skin slightly flushed from the warmth of the water. He exuded an air of elegance as he dressed himself meticulously in a light gray suit jacket that perfectly complemented his tall, slender figure. The white turtleneck underneath highlighted the chiseled angles of his jaw, and the black trousers draped perfectly over his legs. His golden eyes held a mixture of confidence and intrigue, adding to his magnetic aura.
As Lucius approached the dining area, Isabella's breath caught in her throat. The sight of him was breathtaking, causing a spoon to slip from her hand. She quickly recovered, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush, and focused her attention on her food.
Meanwhile, Lucius took in the aroma of the exquisite dishes before him – the Truffle Risotto and baked sweet potatoes. His appreciation was evident in the way he savored each bite, his taste for the finer things in life clear.
After the breakfast was done, Isabella finally broke the silence,
"I need to go home now and change my clothes."
Lucius immediately offered,
"I will go with you."
A soft smile graced Isabella's lips at his willingness to accompany her.
"But sir..."
Isabella began, her voice hesitant.
Lucius interrupted gently,
"No more questions, get in the car."
His commanding tone left no room for argument. With a nod, Isabella complied and hopped into the car, taking a seat beside him. Lucius started the engine, and they began their journey to Isabella's house.
As the car glided along the road, Isabella's excitement bubbled over, and she exclaimed,
"Woooooow!"
The morning sunlight streamed through the car windows, casting a warm and inviting glow. The melodic chorus of car horns added a gentle rhythm to their journey. Minutes later, Isabella pointed and said,
"Stop, sir, we are here."
Lucius smoothly pulled the car to a halt, his presence eliciting a mix of awe and admiration from onlookers.
As Isabella stepped out of the car, she felt the eyes of the neighborhood on them. Lucius followed suit, his striking appearance causing heads to turn and hearts to flutter. Every woman in sight seemed momentarily entranced by his presence, pausing in their steps to admire his undeniable allure. Even Isabella's own family members were momentarily taken aback.
Isabella introduced her family with a smile,
"This is my mom, my dad, and my younger brother, Steve."
Her mother's mouth fell open in astonishment, and even her usually composed father couldn't hide his surprise. Steve, wide-eyed and awestruck, simply stared.
Lucius bowed respectfully to Isabella's parents, his voice carrying a warm and gentle tone as he greeted,
"Good morning, ma'am. I'm Lucius, the President of Moon Tech."
Mrs. Anderson couldn't help but express her thoughts,
"You are even more handsome in person than in photos."
Laughter rippled through the air, a lighthearted moment shared by all.
After entering her room, Isabella wasted no time heading to the bathroom to freshen up. Meanwhile, Isabella's mother kindly offered Lucius a seat to sit. They extended a hospitable offer of food, but Lucius graciously declined, mentioning that he had already eaten. As the minutes ticked by, Isabella emerged from her room, now dressed in a pink long-sleeve shirt paired with a brown skirt. Her ID card hung around her neck, adding a touch of professionalism to her attire. Despite the haste of her morning routine, Isabella's beauty still radiated effortlessly.
"Let's go, sir, we're running late,"
Isabella informed Lucius, a sense of urgency in her tone.
Lucius rose from his seat, his presence dignified and composed.
"Goodbye, ma'am, goodbye, sir,"
he bid farewell with a gentle wave of his hand. With that, Lucius confidently started the car's engine, and they embarked on their journey to work, leaving behind a grateful and charmed family.
As Lucius skillfully parked his car in the company car park, Isabella stepped out and found herself locking eyes with Lucian. A sense of unease crept over her, causing her to momentarily freeze in place. However, Lucius's reassuring voice broke through her apprehension.
"Let's go, Secretary Isabella,"
he said, his words offering a comforting anchor and she nodded.
With Lucius leading the way, Isabella followed closely behind as they walked towards the company entrance. The sight of Lucius's presence garnered smiles and greetings from the workers they passed. His charismatic aura seemed to lift the spirits of those around him. As Lucius entered the company, the air was filled with a positive energy, and even the most routine tasks felt a bit brighter.
Meanwhile, Lucian's expression revealed his simmering anger, a stark contrast to the cheerful atmosphere.
Lucius confidently made his way to the chairman's office, greeted by a warm embrace from his father, Mr Moon.
"Good morning, Dad,"
Lucius greeted with genuine warmth.
"Good morning, my son,"
Mr Moon responded, a hint of pride in his eyes. As they exchanged pleasantries, the office door opened, and Lucian entered.
"Good morning, Dad,"
Lucian greeted, bowing slightly.
Mr Moon embraced his other son, a sense of relief and joy evident in his gesture. The room was filled with an air of formality, but also an underlying tension between the two brothers.
"How is your health, Lucius?"
Lucian's words carried a feigned concern, though Lucius's genuine smile didn't waver.
"I'm good, brother,"
Lucius replied, his tone amicable.
Lucian's dismissive attitude was met with a smile from Lucius.
Interrupting the exchange, Lucian suggested,
"Can we meet at my house tonight? It's been a while since we've had a proper talk, brother."
Lucius's face lit up with surprise and genuine happiness.
Mr Moon was taken aback by the unexpected turn of events, feeling a sense of hope and contentment.
"It's been 200 years now, since I've seen you two talking like this. I'm happy,"
Mr Moon declared, his voice tinged with emotion.
Lucius and Lucian exchanged glances, their expressions softened, and a rare bond seemed to be rekindled. Lucius's smile mirrored his father's sentiment, while Lucian's grin hinted at a potential reconciliation.
Lucius was so happy, and not think about what might happen to him in Lucian's house.
*Lucius's Office*
Lucius entered his spacious office and settled into his comfortable chair. As he sat, he reached for the phone on his desk and dialed Isabella's extension. A few moments later, Isabella entered the room, her professional demeanor in place.
"Here are your schedules for today sir,"
Isabella said, holding out a folder to Lucius.
He accepted it and quickly scanned the contents.
"You have a meeting at 10 am sir,"
she informed him.
Lucius checked the time on his wristwatch, his brows furrowing slightly.
"Oh, it's 9:50 am already," he remarked.
Realizing the time constraints, Lucius stood up with purpose.
"Let's head to the meeting,"
he declared, his voice confident.
Isabella nodded in agreement, her efficiency evident as she followed closely behind him. The two of them made their way out of his office, their steps synchronized and determined. As they walked down the hallway towards the meeting room, Lucius's focus was unwavering, and Isabella's presence at his side added a sense of readiness to tackle the tasks of the day.
As Lucius entered the well-appointed meeting room, a respectful hush fell over the attendees. Instantly, everyone rose from their seats, a show of deference to the president of the company. Warm smiles and nods of acknowledgment were exchanged as Lucius made his way to his designated spot at the head of the table. Each person took a moment to inquire about his health and share a brief greeting, their interactions reflecting a sense of camaraderie.
Seated next to Lucius was Isabella, her presence adding a touch of poise and efficiency to the proceedings. As they settled into their chairs, the atmosphere was one of anticipation and focus. The room hummed with a sense of purpose, and it was evident that the participants were ready to engage in meaningful discussions.
However, the atmosphere shifted once again when the chairman, Mr Moon, and the vice-chairman, Lucian, entered the room. The roomful of professionals stood in unison, a sign of respect for the highest-ranking members of the company. Each individual lowered their heads in a respectful bow as a gesture of reverence.
With everyone now in their seats, the meeting began. The room was soon filled with discussions, presentations, and the exchange of ideas. Lucius, Isabella, and the rest of the team were focused and engaged, committed to advancing the company's goals and initiatives. Throughout the meeting, Lucius's leadership and Isabella's efficient assistance were evident, as they navigated through the agenda with professionalism and a shared determination.
As the meeting concluded, the atmosphere in the room shifted once more. The other participants began to gather their materials and file out, leaving behind a smaller group consisting of Lucius, Mr Moon, Lucian, and Isabella. The remaining quartet lingered, their attention centered on the tasks at hand.
Mr Moon's appreciative words broke the silence, and he offered a round of applause for Isabella's performance. A sense of pride emanated from him as he acknowledged her contribution. Isabella, her cheeks lightly flushed, gracefully bowed in response to the commendation.
"Thank you, sir,"
her voice held a note of genuine gratitude.
While Mr Moon's attention was on Isabella, Lucian's gaze remained fixed on her form. Isabella felt the intensity of his scrutiny and her nerves began to tingle. Her discomfort was palpable, and a small tension seemed to hang in the air.
Isabella quickly turned her focus to her duties, addressing Lucius directly as she reminded him of his upcoming schedule. With a polite and efficient demeanor, she opened the door for him, allowing him to exit gracefully.
"Excuse us, Dad,"
Lucius uttered, his bow to his father a respectful acknowledgment of their departure.
Lucius and Isabella left the room, leaving Mr Moon and Lucian behind. The latter remained silent throughout the entire meeting, his thoughts and emotions hidden behind a veil of inscrutability. As the door closed behind them, the room was filled with a brief pause, each person left to their own thoughts and reflections.
Mr Moon's perceptive gaze remained fixed on Lucian as he confronted him about his unwavering attention towards Isabella throughout the meeting. The inquiry was straightforward, and Mr Moon's questioning tone left little room for evasion.
Lucian, however, swiftly denied any intent to stare at Isabella, brushing off the accusation with a dismissive tone.
"I'm not staring at her,"
he countered, attempting to downplay his actions.
But Mr Moon wasn't easily convinced by Lucian's denial. He persisted, prodding further to get to the heart of the matter.
"I saw you, staring at her,"
Mr Moon's voice held a note of insistence, his gaze unwavering.
"Do you like her?"
Caught off guard by the direct question, Lucian faltered for a moment before responding.
"Like who? Me? No, no, I didn't,"
he insisted, his words laced with a hint of defensiveness.
He went on to make a statement about Isabella's appearance, asserting that he didn't find her to be particularly beautiful.
Before Mr Moon could delve further into the conversation, Lucian abruptly left the meeting room, ending the exchange. A small smile tugged at the corners of Mr Moon's lips as he watched Lucian's departure, his thoughts and suspicions clearly piqued by his son's reactions.
Behind the scenes, Mr Moon set plans in motion, instructing one of his guards to discreetly gather information about Isabella's family. There was an air of intrigue surrounding Lucian's behavior, and Mr Moon was determined to uncover any underlying secrets or motives.
*Afternoon*
Isabella's stomach let out an audible protest, a gentle rumble that didn't escape Lucius's notice. His lips curled into a warm smile as he addressed her discomfort.
"Oh, your stomach needs some fuel,"
he remarked with a touch of amusement, his eyes dancing playfully.
Isabella couldn't help but blush slightly at the mention of her stomach's protest. She chuckled softly and covered her face with her hand, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and amusement.
"Let's stop by at a restaurant and eat,"
Lucius suggested, his tone considerate and thoughtful.
Isabella's eyes met his, and she nodded appreciatively.
"No problem, sir,"
she responded, her smile reflecting her gratitude.
With that, they continued on their way, making a quick stop at a nearby restaurant to satisfy Isabella's hunger and ensure her stomach was no longer grumbling. The simple gesture highlighted Lucius's attentiveness and care, earning him even more admiration from Isabella.
After their satisfying meal, they wrapped up their time at the restaurant and resumed their journey to the office. As they drove along, Lucius's phone began to ring, and he deftly picked it up, sliding in an earpiece to answer the call hands-free.
"Hello, Lucian,"
Lucius greeted his brother on the other end of the line, his voice calm and composed.
"Hope you didn't forget about tonight?"
Lucian's voice sounded through the earpiece, a reminder of some impending engagement.
Lucius's expression remained collected as he responded,
"Of course, I didn't. I will be there by 6 pm."
"Okay, brother,"
Lucian acknowledged before ending the call.
Isabella couldn't help but feel a surge of curiosity, her mind racing with questions about the conversation she had just overheard. However, she decided to hold back her inquiries, respecting Lucius's privacy. Sensing the unspoken curiosity, Lucius subtly increased the speed of the car, focusing his attention on the road ahead.
*Lucian's House*
In Lucian's elegant home, the atmosphere was filled with an air of anticipation as he and his secretary worked together in the kitchen. Laughter echoed through the spacious room as they engaged in light-hearted banter, enjoying each other's company. Lucian skillfully handled the cooking, while his secretary diligently managed the dishes.
As the delicious aroma of the meal wafted through the air, they set the dining table meticulously, arranging everything with care. Lucian's confident smile didn't waver even when doubt surfaced from Mr. Viktor, a loyal companion by his side.
"Will he come?"
Mr. Viktor questioned, his disbelief evident.
Lucian's grin only widened as he responded,
"Of course, he will."
Their shared laughter echoed once again, resonating through the room as they exchanged glances filled with anticipation. With a sense of excitement and an air of mystery, Lucian and Mr. Viktor exchanged knowing looks, ready for whatever awaited them as the evening unfolded.
As the clock struck 6pm, Lucius glanced at his wristwatch and nodded to himself. With a sense of purpose, he made his way to his car and embarked on his journey, the engine's gentle hum filling the air as he drove forward. The anticipation of the evening ahead hung in the air, and Lucius's determination was palpable as he navigated the streets with focus, his destination clear in his mind.
