The looks on everyone's face would have been priceless if this situation was not so serious. An uninvited royal just showed up causing a scene in another kingdom. Yeah this is turning into shit show quickly. I tell them to stop the carriage a few feet from the dragons. I walk up the courtyard to meet them and see what is going on. Menelik comes halfway to greet me. He holds out his hand for mine and kisses my hands lovingly.
I met Menelik as a random mercenary on the battlefield. He was on the front line, charging in. He decimated 30 troops in one strike. I fell in love with him then and there. He was entirely different from Kellan. Kellan had a knightly aura about him, upright justice filled very proper. Menelik was a savage. He slaughtered the enemy in front of him with no rumors or mercy and I was intrigued. He was unlike any man from back home that I've ever seen. We elves are a mostly peaceful race, and we only go to war to protect what is ours. I discovered he was a dragon when he let out a breath of fire, setting his enemies a blaze, careful of his allies. It was such control that he couldn't be anything other than a dragon. He told me initially that he was an orphan with only a sister. I thought I could easily bring him home and he would be my lover. Then we would live happily ever after until after the war was over, and he decided to reveal the truth. He's the only younger brother of the dragon queen Aleria.
"My beautiful prince, I present myself with the delegation of the dragon kingdom to ask for your hand and to return to my kingdom to receive my sister's blessing." I look at him with an angry smile.
"My love, while I'm happy to see you, I thought you were waiting for my magic transmission to come here to introduce you as my lover." I say to him with a frustrated sigh.
"A little bird told me last week that a certain duke was divorced for about two years and was only interested in connecting back with his first love." he said with a sly smirk. I pinked in my cheeks while thinking that Kellan still wanted me after everything I said warmed me from the inside out. "What kind of lover would I be if I stood by and allowed him the chance to woo you. After all this time I finally have you. I will not be letting go anytime soon." I'm standing there red as a tomato. Never since we've been together has he out right declared his feelings. I'm quite out of sorts. I turn around as I hear my parents coming. Well here come the introductions.
He stood there as arrogant as ever. My lover who never listens. I told him I was returning home to settle my affairs, then we would meet at the dragon palace to ask for his sister's blessing on our union. A union which I now have doubts about. Goddess, why is it so hard to move on from that man. My heart did somersaults when I found out he never betrayed me. I instantly thought we could try to pick up the pieces together and become even stronger than before. We would have more communication, honesty, and a better foundation for a relationship. All those things I have with Menelik.
" Well, your highness, let us not stand court in the courtyard. I shall have the servants get you settled, and have your servant be settled into the castle as well. Once you've had a rest from your long journey, I will introduce you to my family and we can discuss visiting the dragon kingdom."
