Chapter 4 - The bullies and a girl who farts (3)

Receiving no response from the young man, Mrs lee wasted no time in giving them their punishments. "The cleaners on the first floor would be on leave tomorrow, all of you are to do the jobs there... Cleaning, sweeping... What have you, everything must be neat" She ordered, to see the horrified looks on their faces.

Connor protested almost immediately, "We have 43 toilets on the first floor, 43 classrooms, and staff rooms also... We are to clean all?" His eyes widened, never had he gotten this kind of punishment ever since he started his bullying career.

She smiled, "All of them. And if you think you can clean nonsense, you'll be asked to start all over " She declared.

The students groaned, every one of them except for Maisie who was quiet. She didn't know that this kind of punishment awaited her, she only hoped that after this punishment, she wouldn't be receiving more.

"Miss Tuffin and Mister Derek should get their parents in school tomorrow, they'll pay for the damages caused in the cafeteria," She said, referring to Maisie and Derek.

Maisie heaved a sigh. Her mother would definitely reprimand her for causing trouble for her like this when she was supposed to be in the restaurant serving food to customers. She wondered how she was going to inform her.

After the closing hour in school, Maisie had gone home straight, her mother, Calisa didn't ask her to come to the restaurant today because she didn't have much to do. So she went home.

Standing in front of their small cottage, she reached for her bag for the bunch of keys. She inserted it into the keyhole and turned it right, the door unlocked and she pushed it back with her hand. She entered the small living room, sigh... There was no sign of anyone around.

She shut the door behind her and slipped to the ground, she buried her face in between her legs and began to stifle her sobs. She would always cry like this whenever she created a scene in school, that caused her great embarrassment, she doesn't shed her tears in front of everyone but in private.

It was Isolde that taught her not to show people her real emotions lest they use it to their advantage.

In her mind, she pondered why she was so unlucky. Why couldn't she be like every other person even when she was a human? She was different compared to other children, whenever she gets angry, she would pollute the air with a smell harsher than a dump site, and the horror on everyone's faces after inhaling it made her sad. Some cursed her and some ran away from her.

Likewise, if she was happy, she cries a lot without even telling where the tears came from and it was always intense.

Maisie let everything out as she sobbed. She wished that magic could just happen and her curse should go away, and take away the memories from everyone's head like it had never happened to her. But she knew those were only her fantasies. Magic wasn't real.

In the middle of her sobs, there was a noise at the other side of the door. Maisie raised her head and wiped her tears with the back of her hand, her father must be back already.

She opened the door to see the old man and a smile appeared on her lips, "Good evening father, how was your day?" She inquired as she helped with the loads in his hands.

The man responded. "Evening Maisie, are you just getting home now? come let's eat, your mother gave me plenty of meals to bring home"

Maisie chuckled softly. After dropping the load at the corner, she went to meet him, where he already settled on the chair and was arranging the food on the table.

"How was work today, father?" She inquired.

"Stressful" He complained with a sigh.

"Aww who stressed my lovely papa, I'm going to deal with them" she punched her first with the other hand.

They both laughed. He raised his head to look at her and his eyes narrowed when he saw her puffy eyes. She must have hidden it from him when he entered, the man frantically stood up in front of her, and he held her cheeks.

"What happened Maisie, why are you crying?"

She shook her head, "I wasn't. S-something flew into my eyes" She said, not wanting him to worry about anything.

"You know I hate it when you lie, Maisie, tell me what happened" He insisted.

Maisie pouted her lips, then she began to transpire about what had happened in school. She left no detail behind, including the one that she fought to defend herself.

When she finished the man sighed, "What are we going to do now, we can't tell your mother, she would be furious" He remarked.

Maisie nodded. She then suggested, "How about you come to school instead of mother, please father" She begged, on one hand, she was preparing herself for a sharp rejection, he was going to work tomorrow and definitely wouldn't have time.

His response caused her to almost cry. "I'll be there tomorrow Maisie, I can't let anyone bully my daughter and get away with it" He caressed her hair lovingly. Maisie grinned ear to ear.

"Thanks, Papa" She lovingly hugged him and the man chuckled.

He reminded, "Remember not to tell your mother"

"Yes," She immediately replied, if her mother knew that she stirred trouble in the school, she definitely was going to reprimand her for not laying low and allowing herself to be abused by the remaining students.

But still, that doesn't mean that she doesn't love her mother. She was the best in the world and was all for her good, she would never hate her parents. They were the best in the world to her, she might not have enough now, but those two are the most precious gems she could ever possess.
