Tapiwa found those villagers to be so cute. And these were the same women who had spit at her whenever they saw her and yet just because they heard she was buying, they still came and tried showing off.
To think that when facing money, people would be that shameless. She began to love her current life even more.
As she promised Ma Denis the previous day. She began to buy tomatoes and onions from the villagers. To prepare for that, she had a lot of bronze coins exchanged for copper to make the transactions easier.
Seeing the several barrels getting full with each passing minute, Tapiwa was very excited and that feeling of getting closer to her dream was taking over her.
Just to buy everything that the villagers had brought that was not rotten. It took her several hours. However, she was happy going through all of that.
When she was done buying everything for that day; Tapiwa had Ma Denis help her set up a meeting with her husband, who happened to be a builder.
Tapiwa didn't want in the future to conduct business at home. She wanted to turn her wasteland into a paradise and, for that to happen; she needed to have buildings built there.
When Ma Denis heard that there was work for her husband. She was very happy about this, that she hurriedly rushed home and brought her husband back with her.
It would have been ideal to talk with Ba Denis in Zengeza village. But when Tapiwa thought of how appropriate it was for her to explain what she wanted while showing him the land, she decided to go back home.
As for eating, the two women were simply too busy, and completely forgot about that.
Because the cart was filled with barrels; Tapiwa, Ma Denis, and her husband all walked on foot as they talked about the business that Tapiwa had for Ba Denis.
"Do you want to extend your current house or build another one?" Ba Denis asked as they walked along the gravel road.
"For now, I want to have something built. But it won't be where I am currently staying but a distance away," she responded as she took a few glances at the man.
Ba Denis was a skilled builder, and he started that profession when he was still a boy. And after so many years, he had built a lot of houses and he was one of the best.
He wasn't just limited to mud houses or wooden houses, but he knew how to make brick houses. Brick houses were more expensive and villagers rarely built them, but even if it was like that, Tapiwa still preferred a brick house compared to the others.
She was born and grew up in one, and there was no way she would lower herself to live somewhere else.
After thirty minutes of walking, the four of them finally reached the estate. While Tambudzai was dealing with the ox-cart and the barrels of tomatoes and onions they had purchased in Zengeza village, Tapiwa was leading Ba Denis and his wife toward the place where she wanted construction to take place.
Ba Denis had known about this estate; in fact, everyone knows about it. It was simply so famous for being a wasteland, and farming was a complete waste.
Actually, nearly a decade ago, the estate wasn't as bad as it is today. He still recalled how everyone was envious whenever they passed by, seeing very tall, sturdy, and healthy corn in formation.
The land was just so good, and arable, and the harvest was bountiful. However, drought came, the rain wasn't falling, and the land started getting dry.
Things were much better thanks to the nearby Gale River a few kilometers away from the estate but as if the place was cursed, every single year it just started getting worse. And now the place couldn't even hold too much water.
He had heard rumors of how Madam Tapiwa tended to visit the Gale River for water and that alone was enough to show that even the well wasn't drawing water anymore.
This land for farming couldn't do, but if one were to build houses, it was a good place, but that would also be bad, for if there wasn't any water, what was the point of living there again?
So, as he passed by the manor area of the estate, he couldn't help but start wondering how difficult it was going to be to build anything there.
'The water is far away and we will need to fetch it. How fast we will build if we have to go through all that? But for money, I will even fetch it from Namwapa if I have to.'
Just because a job looks very difficult doesn't mean that he wouldn't do it. He would do anything just to get money to feed his family and provide a better life for them.
As they walked, Tapiwa began to elaborate on what she wanted to be done by Ba Denis when it came to the buildings.
"As you all know, the estate is twenty hectares of land, which means that I don't lack any land to build anything. Anyway, that's not the point. My point here is, I want you to skip four hectares, starting from the boundary of the manor coming this way. What you will be building will be built after those four," she elaborated.
For the twenty hectares of land, Tapiwa had grouped the land into segments with each segment representing what she wanted that place to become in the future.
And that was how she segmented it. The first two hectares, which consisted of the land where her manor was currently built plus more land that had not been touched yet among those two, were to be kept for her future and bigger mansion.
She was going to make the first two hectares for a place to live with her family, friends, and servants.
The next two hectares were for her empire's offices. She wanted everything to be organized and have everyone being at one place to keep her empire running. So, having offices was a must, and bringing it closer to home was for easier access and easier monitoring as well.
The next four hectares were going to be the workshop area. She was going to build several buildings where workshops in charge of certain projects would be built. It would be more like a factory complex and have everyone who does manual labor for the club working there in their different departments.
After the factory area, the next hectare will be the factory field/garden. Any vegetables and crops planted there would all be for the consumption of employees and be used, especially in the food workshop department.
The next one hectare will be a normal field that would be used to plant any crops that villagers who would be living in the next six hectares of land would eat or sell depending on the bountifulness of the harvest.
Tapiwa wrote her greatest goal, and it was to turn part of her land into a women's village. A haven for women where they don't need to worry about anything.
It was on that six hectares of land that she was going to realize this dream of hers. Although the village won't be able to accommodate everyone, those who are fated will still find their way there.
The last four hectares will be used as a farm and a ranch, respectively. This was how she was going to use her wasteland and turn it into a land of gold.
And now, she was going to start developing the factory or workshop first and then move sideways when time permits.
That wasn't something that was going to be achieved in a single day. It was going to take years, and she was going to keep on fighting until everything was completed.
