"What does this mean exactly ?" Adam asked. He and Lex where walking through the forest on their way to 'Dragon training'. Lex had just finished retelling Adam what happened the day before, how he died and how Lex had no choice but to 'turn' him.
Lex was worried that Adam would not be happy that he was turned into hybrid without his consent, but it turns out Adam was fine with it. It was either that or death. Adam had also gained the same appearance as Lex. Thicker dark red hair, sharper teeth and the black fingernails.
"Actually except for the physical changes nothing else will happen while we are still in the second rank ." Lex said.
Adam put his thumb and forefinger on his chin as he thought of something
"So you said your blood mixed with mine right..?" Adam asked with a look of excited realization.
"No my blood went into your bloodstream and completely overpowered your yours. They didn't mix, my blood took over. Your bones now produce my blood...well it's your blood now but it came from me" Lex explained
"Mm i see you know what this means right ?"
"Yes, it means your entire DNA profile has changed which will prove to be a problem when---"
Adam cut off Lex "No no no , it means we are not brothers anymore dude. We are TWINS !!. We have to change our names cause 'Flame brothers' obviously won't work anymore.... how about 'Flame twins' or 'Dragon twins' or 'twin dragons' or-----"
"Im quite surprised, you are taking this issue so well. Are you sure you understand what this whole thing really means ?" Lex asked as he turned serious. Adam also stopped his ramblings.
"I definitely know what this means Lex. It means I am no longer related to any of my relatives, including my own mother. It means there is a chance of me becoming a monster after my next evolution. It means there is a chance of one day losing control and killing people. But it also means I gained a twin brother i will go through all these hardship with."
"The possibilities are endless now. This serum was made to help stop the war. So let's strive to make that happen."
Adam announced.
'Adam was always a glass half full kinda guy...' Lex thought as he just smiled.
"Argh when are we gonna get there so we can get this over with and go back to eat. Breakfast did nothing I'm still hungry " Adam cried while holding on to his stomach.
Lex sighed before stopping to face Adam
"How about a snack" he said nervously.
"Well why didn't you say so! you got something?" Adam said in slight confusion as he couldn't see any bag on Lex.
Lex suddenly held out his hand and all of a sudden a meter long beast leg appeared out of nowhere. It was one of the legs from the spider queen Xen had cut.
"Woah how did you do that without a storage ring ?" Adam asked in surprise and fascination. Storage rings where quite expensive and Adam was certain Lex didn't have one.
"It's a skill I have, it works just like a storage ring without actually having one" Lex explained. Xen had taught him how to use his [Inventory] skill.
"Soo cool! that skill can solve a lot of life problems, can you teach it to me as well" Adam pleaded.
"Yah sure i can do that but let's eat first" Lex said as another leg appeared on his other hand.
"Okay no need to show off your skill Lex. Just take out the food first I'm getting incredibly hungry. It's really uncomfortable" Adam said.
{Ok dad turn it off} Lex said to Xen. He had learnt from his father that part of their diet now included magical beasts. Apparently no matter how much normal food they eat, they will need some magical beast meat sooner or later.
Normal food still satisfied them but the satisfaction will be only temporary. It's like only drinking juice when you get thirsty, the juice will quench your thirst but sooner or later you will have to drink water.
Lex didn't have to eat beast meat because Xen was suppressing that urge in order for Lex to have fewer things to worry about. Xen could suppress this urge indefinitely, but Lex wanted to experience the same as his brother. He didn't feel it was fair for Adam to be kind of suffering on his own. So Lex had just told his father to turn off the suppression.
As soon as he did though, Lex thought he would fall to the ground clutching his stomach in pain. However he only felt.... very hungry , like he had not eaten for the whole day. Lex understood what Adam meant when he said it was uncomfortable.
"This IS the food Adam" Lex said while handing Adam one spider queen leg. His face scrunched up as he looked at the blood dripping off it in disgust.
"You joking right?" Adam said while taking the 'food' and dangling it in the air. He had to admit though that the thing smelled like fried chicken
'I wish i was' Lex thought.
Lex suddenly shut his eyes and took a bite of the leg.
"....."
Adam was surprised to see Lex actually do it but he was not that shocked, somehow he knew this was food but he did not want to admit it. Deep down he couldn't wait to taste the leg as well, and he didn't wait as he also bit into it. His sharp teeth easily tearing into the tough flesh.
A couple of seconds passed as both brothers chewed on their meals.
"Tastes like chicken" Adam said as he took another bite, followed by Lex, and two minutes later... Both legs where gone and the duo where licking their fingers with satisfied looks on their faces.
"I have to say that was quite good...you got any more ?" Adam asked as he finished licking all the green blood off his palm.
"No unfortunately I only had those two " Lex said while internally cursing Xen for only taking two legs.
{If i had taken any more Laura would have noticed, you should be lucky I even thought about cutting off those} Xen interviened.
"Well I guess we have to hunt huh" Adam said as he stretched.
"Yes we do have to hunt but not to satisfy your hunger. Linda said Laura called off the mission so the team is heading back today at 1600 hours. We have to stock up on food. Hunting won't be easy in the city" Lex explained.
Adam then realized something "Uhh I kinda don't have a weapon remember"
"Don't worry about that this is what dragon training is all about. I am going to teach you how to fight, hunt and think like a dragon" Lex said as he mimicked Xen's words.
