There was no sound of birds singing in the background or the movement of feet in the distance. No two laughing girls, one being nagged and one doing the nagging all while "trying" to be quiet.
There was no one poking around in the bath, no sound of water being filled in the ancient bath…so it must be really early, not late enough for three faceless people to begin scurrying around his courtyard.
Yet, there was no arm around his waist. Not one that was strong but gentle, occasionally rubbing at his skin with calloused fingers—trying to soothe what they all knew would be a sore waist before they woke up for the day. They knew they had done too much the night before, and were in for many glares during the daytime.
