Lex woke up with a headache; he saw the tent ceiling looming above him but felt two soft things lying over him.
He lifted his head to see Midnight and Peri curled up on him. Lex smiled before reaching over and grabbed them. This woke the cats up, who became excited when they saw him, causing them to start licking him.
Peri quickly apologized. ''I'm sorry, Master. I didn't mean to offend you. It's just that I've spent years on edge because we are hunted.''
When Lex heard this, he smiled before grabbing both of them again and hugging them tight. Mightnight was quiet and in a world of bliss. He replied to the white cat. ''Don't apologize. I overreacted and was acting like an idiot. I understand and promise I won't ever hurt either of you.''
''Or our sisters when you find them?''
