Cillian lolled back in his seat, his fingers slowly turning his glass by the stem as he stared at her. "There will be benefits." He said, very slowly.
"What kind of benefits? Monetary benefits? Are you going to pay me?" Caroline asked with a frown, keeping the edge off her voice.
It wasn't the frown that formed between her brows that made him sharply refute that, but because he'd rather not insult her in such a way. "Of course, not Caroline. I will not insult you by putting a price tag on your life. This isn't a short term arrangement." He said.
No, it wasn't, and Caroline was weirdly grateful he wasn't offering her money, because what amount of money could equate giving the rest of her life to him when he had made it clear he would be emotionally unavailable? What amount of money would be enough to pay her for being his more or less his children bearer? But what other benefits were there to offer? She mused.
