Chapter 5 - Deal

Lauren added milk to her filter coffee and took the black coffee mug to Brendon, who was in the study room. Brendon was talking on the phone by the window. This time he was using bluetooth headphones.

Lauren left the cup on the table where she could find an empty place and left the room without making a sound. He picked up her radio and walked over to the kitchen table. Lauren loved this kitchen. The table immediately offered the opportunity for a beautiful city view with a huge glass. It was the perfect place to work through the notes she took in the morning's lectures.

Brendon had been coming home early for a few days, but after dinner he had gone to his room and buried himself in his work. Lauren thought he might be bringing home chores that he could handle from home.

The clock was past ten. Michelin was already asleep. Usually during the night someone would wake up once and then fall back asleep. Although she was not disturbed, she usually slept until morning. They had just established this order.

When Lauren first came to this house, Michelin would wake up at night crying all the time. She was not in the ages that she could distinguish strangers, but she bonded with Lauren too fast. When Michelin's digestive system got used to formula instead of breast milk, they relaxed a bit.

When Lauren first came to the home, Margaret stayed at home so that Lauren and Michelin could get used to each other. That's why it was a little more comfortable at night. Since Margaret was at home at night, Lauren continued her loving marriage role back then.

The first few days, she was sleeping with Brendon. Later, when Margaret only came in during the day, Lauren moved to Michelin's room to comfort Michelin. But even though Brendon was willing to take care of Michelin on Friday and Saturday nights and during Lauren's exam week, Lauren would say it wasn't necessary.

This was necessary so that Brendon, who worked fifty hours a week, could get some rest without being woken up. For this reason, Lauren continued to stay with Michelin. This was no longer necessary as Michelin, who was in good spirits now, slept all night, but Lauren was too embarrassed to say it.

Yesterday it was not necessary. While helping Lauren clear the table after dinner, Brendon said that Michelin's room was small and the bed there was uncomfortable, so she could sleep in the bedroom if she didn't need it anymore. Lauren had also slept next to Brendon last night for trial purposes, taking her radio with her and lying on the side by the door, and it had been no problem.

While sleeping in the same bed with him yesterday, she noticed that she wasn't as nervous as she had been in the first days. She thought she was used to marriage now. Brendon also seemed more relaxed. He was talking to her more.

Presumably, this habit was also valid for the other side. But Lauren was especially glad for one reason that Brendon had come home early and they had started sleeping together. Those goddamn hallucinatory things never happened with Brendon around.

While these thoughts were in her mind, she did not understand anything from the page she was reading, so she gathered her attention and read it once again. At that moment, the study door opened, and Brendon came up to her with a coffee mug.

He sat down opposite her, thanking her for the coffee. Lauren hadn't looked up from her notes when she was saying "You're welcome!", but she looked up, thinking he'd say something when Brendon sat across from her.

After Brendon didn't say anything for a while, Lauren looked again at her notes. Brendon looked around for a moment, then turned to face Lauren again. When he saw the book on the table, "Wow, my memories come back. This lecture was given by Professor Huntling. Is he still giving it?" he asked.

"He retired last year," Lauren replied with a smile. "It was a pity that I could not see the entrance to the amphitheater with its famous wobble." she added.

Brendon remembered how the teacher had walked. Then he told an interesting memory that happened in the teacher's class. Lauren listened to him curiously. With a slightly uneasy look, Brendon pointed to the lecture notes and asked if he was in the way. Lauren said she didn't mind, she was just looking at the notes to spend time. After a moment of silence, Lauren returned to her notes. However, "Take the beans out of your mouth now," she muttered.

Brendon watched the wedding ring on Lauren's finger a bit and said, "Lauren…"

Lauren looked up again and "Yeah?" she replied.

Brendon sighed and went straight to the point without further thought: "Would you like to have an active sex life with your husband?"

Lauren was stunned when she heard the question. She could feel the blood splashing on her cheeks. However, she did not want to show her embarrassment to the man who was asking this question as if it were a normal thing. What's more, this man could hit Lauren devastatingly if the conversation didn't go as she wanted. As in her previous conversations about staying in the top twenty in her class…

Lauren put the back of her hand to her mouth, showing embarrassment, and asked mischievously: "Why are you asking?"

"As per the terms of the agreement…" Brendon said without hesitation. So Lauren realized that Brendon had already prepared for this talk. It was unfair to talk about such a subject without getting used to it.

Of course, Brendon put the stone in the hole again. "You don't have to answer right away. I just thought you were used to it by now. It seemed to me that we could go a step further." he said.

"I don't remember the deal having such a rule," Lauren said with a laugh. Lauren could tell he was tense as the vein on the right of Brendon's forehead became prominent. They were now in sync.

"That's another matter," Brendon said calmly, though. Lauren sighed, "Yeah, his attack is coming. Keep your guard up, Laury…" she thought.

Brendon was quiet for a while, then said, "Even if I didn't make the rules, you're not allowed to have a mistress. After all, every young person will have sexual needs. I don't want you to make any mistakes that will undermine the security of your marriage."

Lauren was silent for a moment. This was a really heavy attack. If she had known Brendon less, she might have taken what he said was the real thing he thought about it and would have been truly offended.

However, she recovered and counterattacked. She smiled and "I understand," she said. She got up from the table.

Brendon said to himself, "This war is over before it even starts." He wished he could say directly that he wanted to have sex with her. Lauren was now lost in bed and in heart.

Lauren said, "I would like to have an active sex life with my husband. But I am also worried about one thing."

Brendon turned to look at Lauren, who had come over to him. He had conditioned himself so much that he would be rejected that Lauren's response was, "I don't want it." perceived as.

The expression in his gaze changed as he realized what Lauren had said. Lauren had a hard time not laughing at this reaction.

"What are you worried about?" Brendon asked. Lauren bent down and said in a slow, low voice, "I wonder if this older husband will be able to satisfy his young wife enough to keep her from making mistakes?"

The vein on Brendon's forehead showed itself once again. Lauren stopped herself from fleeing, and got up slowly, heading for the door.

"She doesn't leave the house, does she?" Brendon thought. But Brendon saw Lauren pressing the buttons of the vending machine at the residence right next to the door. Hee felt the need to swallow once he saw the package that had fallen into the basket, but he couldn't show it to Lauren, who turned her head and looked at him as she paid.

As if nothing had happened, he got up and walked into the bedroom, not forgetting to grab his baby monitor. He wanted to be out of the shower before Lauren arrived. He knew how to avenge this defeat.
