Kabir smirked, hands wrapped around Zaya's sister, Amaya's waist, as he asked, "Where have you been, Zaya?"
Zaya ignored him, addressing her sister. "Amaya, what are you doing here?"
"What do you think? I'm here to comfort Kabir since you've clearly abandoned him," Amaya retorted, staring fearlessly at Zaya. "He's my brother-in-law, after all."
"He's my husband!" Zaya exclaimed, her voice rising.
"Oh really?" Kabir said, feigning surprise. "But I thought Zafar was your boyfriend."
Amaya shot Zaya a knowing glance. "Seems like you had a good time with him, considering your damp clothes," she taunted.
"I didn't go out with Zafar," Zaya insisted, her voice trembling with emotion.
Kabir laughed. "So, who did you go out with? And why did you come back here, if not for me?"
Zaya bit her lip, silence hanging heavy in the air.
