"What are you doing here?" Emily asked, surprised to see Melissa at her doorstep.
"I know I'm the last person you want to see, but please hear me out," Melissa pleaded.
Emily stepped aside, allowing Melissa to enter. In the sitting room, Emily gestured for Melissa to take a seat, joining Robert and Edward.
"Who is she?" Robert whispered to Emily. "An old classmate," Emily replied.
"Get on with it," Emily said, her gaze fixed on Melissa.
Melissa looked worn out, a far cry from her former self. "I've come to apologize for what I did to you. I was consumed by jealousy, and I realize now that you didn't deserve it," Melissa said, her voice laced with remorse.
"Jealousy? You tried to kill me! I could have died," Emily exclaimed. "Would you have apologized to my grave if I hadn't survived?"
