Chapter 10 - THE WALK TO THE WALKWAY

"There are some students in the classroom already," Alexis commented as they strolled down the hall.

"Are we all here?" Emily asked, a hint of concern in her voice.

"Not quite, but Mrs. Evelyn asked us to gather in the classroom," Alexis replied.

"We shall soon see how the events unfold," Emily remarked, a hint of curiosity in her tone.

"I know we're always prepared for any eventuality," Alexis said, a glint of determination in her eyes.

As they stepped into the classroom, the sounds of lively conversation filled the air, the room abuzz with activity. Emily and Alexis took their seats, joining the throng of students already gathered in the classroom.

In an instant, the classroom fell silent as Mrs. Evelyn entered the room. As the silence settled over the classroom, Mrs. Evelyn's presence seemed to fill the room. Her commanding voice was like a spell, instantly silencing the lively chatter. "Greetings, my students," she intoned, the sound of her words filling the space with a sense of purpose.

"Greetings, Mrs. Evelyn," the students replied in once voice, their attention fixed upon her.

"Now that I have your attention, let us discuss the matter at hand," Mrs. Evelyn began, the room falling silent once more. "As some of you have already surmised, the reason for my announcement is the arrival of Nicole Novak and her team," she continued, her voice clear and confident.

A ripple of excitement ran through the classroom as Mrs. Evelyn made her revelation. Some students looked intrigued, while others appeared anxious, unsure of what to make of the news.

"This might be exciting for some, but not for others," Mrs. Evelyn said, acknowledging the mixed reactions in the room. "Some of you may have taken it more seriously than others," she continued.

"But, Mrs Evelyn," a girl said, her voice crestfallen, "You never told us that Nicole Novak was coming today, you only told us we'll be submitting our project today," The girl was referring to the world renowned designer and entrepreneur, who was visiting the school to judge their class project.

"That's why I told you all to take it seriously, the project started with your imagination, then your sketches, the product of your sketches was what you finally created," Mrs. Evelyn said.

"I heard the whole school is going to be there," a girl blurted out excitedly.

"Yes, and you'll be walking the runway, which is currently being prepared for the big event," Mrs. Evelyn replied, her voice brimming with enthusiasm.

"I'm still feeling a bit anxious about the prospect of being on stage," a girl confessed, a look of worry on her face.

"But you're aspiring to become a fashion designer," another boy retorted, his skepticism evident in his tone. The comment was met with a chorus of hushed mutterings.

"Everyone, please be quiet," Mrs. Evelyn demanded, and the room fell silent in an instant. "You'll be wearing the designs you've created, and walking the runway like professional models," she explained, her words brimming with authority.

"After your runway walk, you'll have the opportunity to explain the details of your designs," she continued, a glint of excitement in her eyes. "Nicole Novak and her team will judge your designs based on originality, design execution, and overall creativity," Mrs. Evelyn announced, her tone filled with anticipation.

"It's your opportunity to shine," she added, a genuine smile on her face.

"This is not the first time our university has hosted a fashion show, so I know you're more than capable of gracing the runway like models," Mrs. Evelyn said, her tone confident and encouraging.

"But ma, if only you'd informed us of Nicole Novak's coming," a boy lamented, his disappointment palpable. "Then we might have been inspired to strive for excellence," he continued, his tone full of regret.

"We would have had the opportunity to surpass our expectations," the boy exclaimed, his frustration clear. "To truly strive for greatness and create something exceptional," he added, his passion evident in his words.

"We thought that that we're going to be sending your designs to Nicole Novak and then she'll pick the best and send it back to us," Mrs. Evelyn began. "But she called this morning that she's going to be here in person with her team to judge your designs," she continued. "You should have no excuses for not putting in your best effort, cause I told you'll to take the project seriously," Mrs. Evelyn said, her tone firm but fair. "And that the best design would get to work with Nicole Novak, that alone should be your motivation," she explained.

"Only the Almighty can help us succeed today," a girl stated, her eyes shinning with belief. "It's not about the showcase or the runway, it's about explaining our designs, that's the problem," she continued, her words brimming with conviction.

"That shouldn't be a problem either since you made the dress yourself, you should be confident in your ability to explain it, so let's put all our best efforts forward and show everyone what we're made of," Mrs. Evelyn said, her tone encouraging and supportive.

"You'll go to the dressing room and get ready in your stunning designs, and the makeup artist will be there to give you the perfect look," Mrs. Evelyn continued, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Then you'll make your way backstage, where you'll prepare yourself for the big moment," she added, her tone confident and reassuring.

"When will the event start?" A girl asked, her eyes shining with curiosity.

"At 12 noon, you still have three hours to get ready. I wish you all the best of luck, and I know you'll all do wonderfully," she replied, her tone calm.

"Thank you, Mrs. Evelyn!" The students said in unison, their voices filled with gratitude.

"Also, Emily Kevan, you'll be joining the professional makeup team as an equal for the event," Mrs. Evelyn said, her words full of admiration and warmth.

"Yes, ma'am," Emily replied, her voice ringing out in the classroom.

"It's time to get to the dressing room and prepare for the big event," Mrs. Evelyn called out, her heels clicking on the floor as she left the room.

One by one, the students gathered their belongings and filed out of the classroom.

"Em, you're so lucky," Alexis said as they headed to the dressing room.

"Why do you say that?" Emily asked with a puzzled expression.

"You're lucky because, you're blessed with a svelte figure and enviable poise, which makes you a natural - born model," Alexis remarked, her language erudite and eloquent.

"Thanks, we're all so fortunate to have this opportunity," Emily said, her voice soft and soothing. "Let's make the most of it and do our very best," she added, her expression confident and determined.

The students made their way to the dressing room, where they got dressed in their specially designed outfits. With expert skill and meticulous attention to detail, the makeup artists created stunning looks for each students, highlighting their unique features and enhancing their natural beauty.

Each student was given a selection of shoes to choose from, in a variety of styles and sizes, ensuring a perfect fit for their outfits.

The hair stylist worked the magic on the students and Emily was among them. Emily watched in the mirror as her hair was transformed into a masterpiece of coiffure. Although she had applied her own makeup, and she was more than happy to accept the assistance of the professional hair stylist, who transformed her tresses into a work of act, cause she would have done it herself.

The students gathered backstage, dressed to the nines and bursting with excitement as they waited to be called upon. They were each a vision of beauty, ready to take the stage and show off their creations.

Their hair was styled to perfection, their makeup flawless, and their outfits impeccable.

The hall was set, decorated to the nines and teeming with eager spectators, including students of Asterisk university and people from far and wide who had come to see Nicole Novak.

Unbeknownst to them, word had spread like wildfire, and the students from other universities had also arrived, hoping to catch a glimpse of the legendary fashion designer.

The room was abuzz with anticipation, some people fussing over their appearance in front of the mirrors, others chatting excitedly, and a few trying to calm their nerves. The atmosphere was electric, charged with the thrill of the unknown and the promise of something extraordinary.

Emily and Alexis were chatting away, immersed in their own little world, when Melissa said in a tone that was almost friendly.

"I just wanted to wish you good luck."

Emily regarded her warily, unsure of her intentions. "Thanks," she replied, her tone cautious.

Melissa and her friends left, their smiles quickly fading as they turned away. Their body language spoke volumes, their steps awkward and hesitant as they retreated.

"That was strange," Alexis mused.

"Yeah, something about that felt off," Emily agreed.

"You're the real beauty queen," Alexis said, her voice sincere.

"Thanks," Emily said, blushing slightly.

Emily's beauty was undeniable, a combination of poise, style and grace. Her beauty was more than skin deep, radiating from within and shining through in every moment.

The event started with an opening speech from Mrs. Evelyn. "Welcome to the fashion showcase," Mrs. Evelyn began, addressing the audience. She spoke eloquently, her words captivating the crowd.

When the last lecturer finished, Mrs. Evelyn made her way backstage to meet her students.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to show the world what you're made of," Mrs. Evelyn said, her voice brimming with pride.

Everyone nodded, their eyes shining with excitement.

"You've all outdone yourselves," Mrs. Evelyn continued, "and I am especially impressed with your designs."

"Thank you ma," everyone chorused.

The emcee too the stage, ready to introduce the dignitaries and call upon them.

"Good luck," Mrs. Evelyn bid her students farewell, her words full of encouragement. The audience waited with bated breath, eager to see what the event would bring.
