"Where is she?" Aunt Julia bellowed as she stormed into the house, banging the door wildly and shrieking at the top of her lungs as she walked up the stairs to Nova's room.
"Nova Sabine Addison! You come out here this very instant." she bellowed angrily and kept marching up.
"Now Julia, what is wrong, why are you trying to scream the entire house down, where is Nova, is she not with you?" Elijah poked his head out of the study and asked, he had heard the screaming and come out to investigate.
Julia continued ranting as she walked up the stairs while Elijah followed her and tried to figure out what was going on. "That spoiled brat of yours is determined to ruin all of my hard work, I absolutely cannot believe how she acted today, she humiliated me and this family and i…" she stopped talking when Yara came out of her room with puffy eyes.
"Nova, what is wrong?" Elijah asked in concern when they stopped on the landing in front of Nova's room as he saw how unhappy his daughter looked, he pushed Julia aside and touched her face softly.
He had been upset with the decision that Nova had taken behind his back, he was simply a father who wanted desperately to protect his daughter from any harm, the fact that she had lost her mother at such a tender age made him even more protective of her but she was such a rebel and she made rash decisions all the time that broke his heart, with repercussions which would eventually come back to bite her in the behind and he ended up having to pick up the shattered pieces.
"Well, your precious daughter ran out of the house without telling anyone and left me there without a clue, I cannot begin to even imagine what the Knox family thinks of us. Nova, I will not let you ruin this wedding or cause a catastrophe." Julia said.
"What happened Nova, did something happen?" Elijah asked and Nova burst into tears.
"I don't want to get married to that man father, please don't make me get married to him, I made a huge mistake. He is an arsehole and I can't stand his rudeness. He would not even let me have a bottle of water." Nova explained.
Elijah looked at her in surprise and turned to look at Julia.
"What is she talking about?" he asked.
"Apparently her suitor Caden Knox is autistic and he likes things done a particular way so he had issues with giving her the bottled water in his safe room But that was no reason for her to just storm off without even some sort of explanation, Nova is…"
"Enough please Julia, let me speak." Elijah said, shutting up a disgruntled Julia who frowned at him petulantly.
Julia was irritated by the fact that Elijah was once again going to take his daughter's side as but what did she expect? The man had spoiled his child too much and that was why she did whatever she wanted and thought that she would get away with it.
She realized that if Nova got her way now then she would not be able to organize the biggest wedding in the country and that thought almost brought her to tears, she was going to die a destitute because of this overindulged child and her enabling father.
"Nova, I am sorry about this situation and how you feel but you are going to have to marry this Caden." Elijah said grimly and both women gasped, one in delight and the other in shock.
"Elijah, this is the best decision I have seen you make in the longest time, you are making the right decision." Julia said happily as she clapped her hands.
"But dad…" a shocked Nova sputtered.
"No buts, might I remind you that no one but yourself is responsible for you getting into this situation with your hasty decision making? I thought that you would know better by now and do better, you went against my wishes and chose to do something by yourself despite how I felt about it and now that you do not like how things are you want to just waltz out of it? You will just have to bear the consequences."
His look hardened, Nova had never seen him look at her this way, she had truly gone and done the worst now.
"I am not going to allow you do that. Julia, reach out to the Knox's and invite them for a dinner here and Nova will apologize for her unseemly behavior." He declared while Nova's face crumbled.
He walked away without a backward glance at his daughter while Julia walked past and smirked triumphantly at her and followed him down the stairs, the only thing on her mine was confetti and a gothic cathedral in France for the wedding.
"I am going to need to discuss with your chef so that we can have a satisfactory menu prepared and then send invites out." Julia said as the went back down the stairs.
Nova ran back into her room and slammed the door before jumping on her bread and crying hot angry tears.
She always got her father to let her get her way so she could not understand why he was insisting now on this most, especially because he had not wanted the marriage in the first place anyway. He was probably only doing all of this to punish her, he might think that he had gotten the last word but she was going to prevail and make sure that she got what she wanted or else she would run away.
Anything would be better than getting married to that Caden with his nasty attitude, there was not enough money in the world that would convince her not to change her mind. She did not care if he was on the spectrum, he was mean and living with him would be a huge disaster. Hearing that Caden was autistic however made a lot of sense as to why he was acting the way he did but that did not make her dislike of him any less, with his haughty attitude and know it all.
He just struck her the wrong way and she knew instinctively that she would fight very often with him if they were in close proximity to each other. It made no sense for her to intensely dislike someone who had not really done anything to her but she could not help feeling the way she did towards him. She regretted her brash decision.
If she had just minded her business none of this would be happening but her father was also to blame for not supporting her like he usually did. Well, if they tried to force her then she would make sure everyone suffered for it.
