The demon let out a tortured howl as its core was ripped from its chest. Aahan's bandaged arm, now adorned with the eerie appendage, pulsed with dark energy as it claimed the Durdhama's essence.

Despite the texts staring at him, Aahan ignored them. Meanwhile, his bandaged arm slowly retracted the Asura tongue, returning to its seemingly dormant state.

As intrigued as he was by the tongue's behaviour, Aahan had more important things to deal with... such as giving an explanation to Amrita, who was staring at him as if she had seen a ghost.

Thankfully, Amrita was the only one who saw the tongue as Maya was unconscious, and Arjun had long since disappeared. That said, it was more troubling because someone like Amrita would know what she saw, and Aahan would have a difficult time evading her questions.

As Amrita approached him with a stern expression, her sword still drawn, Aahan knew he had to do something or else the invigilator in charge of protecting them might become the one to end his life.

"What was that thing-" Amrita began but was interrupted by Aahan.

"Before you ask any question, we should check on Maya. After all, she got hit pretty hard during the battle."

Although Amrita knew exactly what Aahan was trying to accomplish, she knew he was correct. At that moment, she wasn't just a Rathi but also the one in charge of their safety. Hence, she had to put Maya's safety above her curiosity.

Aahan sighed in relief as Amrita turned around to check on Maya. But thanks to the tablet in her hands, she could perform a quick scan and ensure Maya was safe.

"She's safe," Amrita mumbled as she turned to face Aahan. "She got knocked out due to overexertion, but she'll recover. Now, back to my question, Aahan... what's an Asura's... Tongue doing inside your arm?"

Countless thoughts flooded Aahan's mind. Should he risk admitting what he knew and hope he doesn't get kicked out of the Ashram, or should he lie about it all?

"Before you say anything, I should warn you that I have your biometrics in here," Amrita said while waving the tablet around. "I can catch your lies faster than you can say sorry. So be careful."

Aahan sighed. He knew he would definitely be thrown out if he lied anymore. Having no other way, Aahan decided to confess.

"You're right, ma'am. My arm... it contains an Asura's Tongue."

Amrita's eyes widened in surprise at his revelation. She had clearly not expected this admission. Aahan continued, explaining his limited knowledge of the strange appendage.

"I don't know how to use it or why it's inside me," Aahan continued. "Gurudev knows about it, though. He's the one who made me aware of my condition."

"Gurudev... knows?"

"Yes, he does," Aahan replied, hoping she would acknowledge Gurudev's judgement. "That said, I don't really know how it works or why it's there. I can't control it and don't even know how to activate it. All I know is that it has a mind of its own."

Amrita's surprise deepened at the mention of Gurudev, the revered sage of their Ashram. If Gurudev was aware of Aahan's condition, it carried a weight of significance.

"I see," She nodded slowly, her gaze fixed on Aahan. "If Gurudev's aware about your... condition, then there's not much I can do. Even so, I would confirm your claims as soon we get out of here, and if it turns out you were lying, then I'll personally deal with you."

At that moment, Aahan felt like Amrita was much scarier than the demons he had faced till now and barely managed to nod in acknowledgement.

"Now, if that's clear, what do you expect to do now?"

"Excuse me?" Aahan asked.

"About the test," Amrita rolled her eyes. "For Vivaan's brother, you're quite slow."

"You know Vivaan?" Aahan suddenly forgot anything and everything around him and was focused on Amrita.

"I wouldn't be much of a teacher if I forgot about my best student," Amrita shook her head as if trying to shake off the nostalgia. "So tell me, are you going to face the next wave alone, or should we wrap this up?"

Aahan didn't even need to think. Retreating was the obvious choice, and he mentioned it to her.

"That's an expected choice," Amrita mumbled while furiously typing on her tablet. "Alright, we're done here, let's go."

Then, without speaking, she lifted Maya in her arms and headed towards the exit. The journey was spent in silence until they reached the gate, and Aahan was about to step out of the fissure.

"Aahan," Amrita began, her eyes fixed on his arm, "you must refrain from using that... tongue in the upcoming rounds."

"I can't actually control it," he confessed, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "I thought I informed you about it already..."

"I understand that, but you must find a way to control it," Amrita's expression remained solemn as she continued, "Using such abilities can have consequences that you're not aware of yet."

"Consequences? What do you mean?" Aahan was puzzled by Amrita's words.

"I-" She shook her head slightly, her lips curving into a faint enigmatic smile. "You'll know when the time comes. Just remember that this test is being watched by thousands of people around the globe."

"Spectators?"

"Like I said, you'll get to know about it soon," she mumbled, passing through the fissure. "For now, just focus on taming that thing inside you."
