Chapter 19 - Mass Memory Alteration

*SNAP!!

The man's words were cut off when Jamie's eyes suddenly flashed and the Hybrid snapped his fingers twice.

Davina who was looking right at him, noticed that he snaped two sets of fingers.

His thumb and index—right before a barrier enveloped the entire room.

His thumb and middle—silenced the man who was speaking, as well as everyone else in the restaurant.

'Does each finger snapping activate a different ability?'

Her question was answered the next moment when Jamie put his hands down and spoke calmly.

"There, attention diverted."

The man who had gotten up to shout at Jamie suddenly walked towards the counter and ordered another meal, while the others who had been focused on the group earlier suddenly carried on with their business, as if nothing had just happened.

"…What did you do?"

"Nothing. Their lives are on as usual. Just that the past few minutes that had our group in them simply didn't happen."

The man said it like it wasn't anything serious but his words left the twins' jaws dropping as they instantly figured out that he had done something to the memories and cognition of all the people present, the Level 600 SSS rankers included, and made it seem as if everything that concerned them and the trio from the moment Jamie created that polyhedron simply didn't happen.

And he did so just by snapping his fingers.

'Wait…so him snapping with his middle finger does activate a different power! Just how many powers does he have? We've only seen his space manipulation so far.'

Davina spent quite a while thinking about this while Jamie wolfed down the rest of his meal in silence.

"These 'Smart phone' thingies…"

"Huh? Oh, that."

The Hybrid's sudden words had the female twin tracing his gaze to the Tv where a phone ad was showing, a hint of surprise appearing on her face when she noted that the phone being advertised was the same model she had.

"It'd take me a while to get used to having them around. Anyway, I just have to follow this map displayed on the screen, to that pointer over there and I can find our hotel, right?"

"Yes."

David leaned in and gave the Hybrid a little explanation on how to use the phone's map application, toggling location settings and other related features.

"How much power does this thing have?"

"You can charge it by infusing your magic power into it."

"I see… convenient."

Jamie nodded and tossed the phone back into his blazer pocket, before asking the twins for something else.

"Mind lending me some of your currency? I don't believe what I have on me is viable anymore."

As he spoke, he pulled out a bunch of golden coins from his subspace, making Davina's eyes widen in shock. She hurriedly covered his hands and forced them back into the subspace before saying.

"Please don't take those out in public.

And also, they are not viable as legal tenders, but they would fetch a lot if you took them to an antique shop."

After stopping the Hybrid from setting targets on their backs, the trio moved over to the place that dealt with the Dragon Materials, their spectacular appearances making lots of heads turn.

"Yeah…attracting attention is impossible considering the fact that three of us look like celebrities."

They got to the place without much drama, and found the proceedings were a bit different than what Wanete had researched.

Apparently, the company now sent workers to the client's locations to get the materials they wanted to handle from them, along with the description of what they wanted to use said materials for.

To make sure the clients were corresponding with the right people, they were given a small buzzer device with a set of codes inputted, and the workers had to tell them those exact codes and confirm their identities with their specially crafted ID cards before the client was to release whatever materials.

These cards were similar to the Guild Cards given to every member of a guild upon registration.

Guilds were intercontinental organizations that managed people within certain professions, with the most prominent being the Adventurers and Business Guilds.

The Guild 'cards' each member possessed, were devices that served as a means of identification as a member of that guild and also a means of communication between members of the guild.

Each card had more or less abilities depending on their rankings, but the ability to communicate with fellow guild members came standard with them all.

As was the biometric-energy identification on them.

To prevent situations of people using stolen cards, the cards could not be activated by anyone besides the person they had been registered to.

This registration process consisted of getting both the person's biometric data and energy signature, making it so that the card could not be activated unless the legitimate owner poured energy into it.

Speaking of Adventurers Guilds, Jamie wanted to register with them as they had an office within the plaza, but Davina and David managed to talk him out of it, citing that if he registered there, the card he'd gain would only grant him access to F and E ranked Dungeons and Gates.

They promised to help him get one that had access to Dungeons suited for his level when they got to Nightingale—the Vampire Continent.

After that, they spent the rest of the day touring the city again, going to attractions they hadn't gone to in the morning and eventually ending their tour when evening came.

◇ ◇ ◇

[You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.]

"Relatable."

Jamie muttered to himself as he watched the conversation between the four people at a certain billionaire's restaurant on the screen.

In one hand was a meat skewer he got from the hotel's night shop, and in the other was a tumbler filled with dwarven wine.

He picked up the list of movies in the Series he got from David and checked where he was at, before returning his full focus to the movie.

The time was a few minutes past 9 pm, and the Hybrid was still awaiting the workers who were meant to come over and collect the dragon corpse he had on him.

"Hmm?"

His spatial perception picked up on some sudden disturbances, prompting him to pick up the remote in an attempt to pause the movie he was watching.

But after pressing the button twice and seeing nothing change, the man frowned lightly before flipping the remote over and smacking it twice.

He then attempted to pause it again and the video on the screen stopped as intended.

"Indeed, a good smack solves all problems. Don't you guys think so too?"

Silence pervaded the room after the Hybrid spoke, the latter half of his statement being directed as a question towards the long balcony windows of the suite.

"Hmph. I knew you were no ordinary person after you went around asking about dragon leather shoes earlier today.

But to think you could notice us."

A deep male voice that seemed to be magically altered rang out suddenly, preceding the appearance of six figures dressed in all black from head to toe.

Their realms of power and energy signatures were all completely concealed from being perceived, still, they could not erase their presence from the very space they occupied, meaning Jamie who had a natural spatial perception that spanned kilometres, could easily notice them.

Besides that, they had heartbeats that Jamie could hear as clear as day with his enhanced senses.

Enhanced superhuman physical capabilities and senses were a trait of vampires and werewolves, a trait that was multiplied by at least two times in Jamie's case.

One may think it did not really matter much, but because of these racial traits, these two races possessed higher stat efficiency than others on their level.

So, if you saw a Vampire with an 'A-' strength stat; be careful, that Vampire's real striking strength would definitely be higher than what you'd expect as their stat level would naturally be higher than normal.
