Chapter 49 - Unspoken Anxieties

Eveloria's eyes fluttered open at the sound of heavy footsteps receding from her door. She rose from her slumber, sleep still clinging to her, and shuffled toward the door with a drowsy yawn. Her disheveled hair was a testament to her hurried awakening, yet she made no attempt to tame it as she swung the door open and ventured out in her nightgown, barefoot.

A thought crossed her mind as she ambled down the corridor. 'Lord Tristan should be awake by now. I should go greet him,' she mused. With determination, she reached his room and rapped gently on the door. "Good morning, My Lord, it's Milena," she called with an eager smile.

But silence greeted her, and her smile faded. "He must still be asleep," she concluded. Undeterred, Eveloria announced her intent, "Pardon me, Lord Tristan, I will come in now," and found the door unlocked. She entered cautiously, only to discover an empty room.

Confusion etched her face as she stared at the vacant bed.
