Later that day, she awoke in the warmth of the bed, clad in a nightgown and sitting upright. Her entire body ached, as though it had been struck by a boulder. The pounding in her head sent pain radiating through her skull. She remained seated on the bed for a while, attempting to calm her frayed nerves.
Soon, she noticed a tray laden with food resting on the desk across the room. An inviting glass of orange juice accompanied a plate piled high with sweet cakes and biscuits. Her resistance crumbled, and she couldn't resist the temptation to rise from the bed and make her way to the desk.
As she savored a bite of one of the sweet cakes, a knock resonated from the door, accompanied by a familiar deep voice. "Ms. Milena, are you awake?"
