Azier felt entirely disoriented as his brain regenerated very slowly. He was aware that he was alive - but that was about it. He hadn't even been able to feel anything at first - and he imagined it must have been much like being born all over again.
Darkness was all he had.
No senses.
No sight.
No sign of time.
Then, as sudden as the nothing he was born into set in did the sensation of pain set in. He wanted to scream out, but he had no vocal chords. He wanted to see where he was - but his eyes were still blurry, and all he could see were vague shapes and colors. More than anything - he wanted to hear. Silence was the thing that had often drove him crazy when he had been left in that box.
At least the pain gave him something to focus on until his eyes reformed, his ears slowly stretched open, and his skin grew over his muscles and across his skull.
