Lin Feng looked at the missions panel once more before deciding to set off for a reconnaissance mission in Qingqeng town. 'I should probably find a suitable spot for the mission and check for competition' he laughed. 1000 copper coins may seem like a little amount but considering his status and his reputation he wasn't sure if anyone would take his begging seriously enough to give him any money.
Lin Feng walked out of his cottage where he was put to rest and headed for the town center. Qingqeng town being a small town in the desolate south wasn't particularly bustling. The residents all knew Lin Feng and he was thus met with admiring gazes and respectful greetings from anyone he met. The recent attack on the hidden sword sect had been kept confidential and thus none of the town residents expressed any concern for his well being. Qinqeng town wasn't particularly well organized and consisted of a central market place with a few essential service providers scattered around the market. Lin Feng's choice on the location of his mission was precisely the central market place. Other beggars wouldn't have the right to beg at this place and would be kicked out but due to his status no one would dare to raise a fuss.
Lin Feng decided to buy out a stall to atleast shade him on rainy days once he moved out of the sect for his mission. 'Hello sir, would you be interested in selling your stall?' he asked the slightly obese middle aged woman at a stall that he had selected. Seeing who it was, the woman didn't dare to put on any airs and replied promptly, 'I'm sorry esteemed sir but without this stall my family would die of starvation'
Lin Feng took out 10 taels of gold and stuffed them into the woman's hands. 'Maybe this will help,' he said smiling. For a normal family, this amount was enough to live comfortably for a few years without working. The woman thanked him and left in a hurry lest he change his mind.
With a location in site, Lin Feng left for the sect and convened a meeting to inform the rest of his sect members. 'I'll be leaving the sect for a while to live the mortal life and temper myself after the recent setback' he bluffed.
'I don't think that's a good idea since the assassin may come back for you while you're alone' said the level headed flame sword.
'Huo Yan who are you to question the sect masters choices?' retorted the earth sword Ye Diqiu.
'Let him be if he wants to die' said the shadow sword while the wind sword just remained silent.
Cold sweat dripped on Lin Feng's back as he realized he had been too eager and failed to consider this point. He was however adamant about completing his mission and therefore insisted on going. 'I agree with what you're saying but this is something I must do. I'll let Li Kun accompany me and hide in the shadows' said Lin Feng.
The shadow sword consented and thus Lin Feng's departure was set in stone.
